I've been roughly 6'2 175 lbs for at least the last five years yet I have recently noticed that I have to buy medium sized shirts instead of large.

You aren't fooling me though I'm sure you are making these fucking obese bastards who think it's OK to eat a whole cake feel better.

Even XXL's have become WIDER, instead of LONGER, so, I can get a shirt that hangs to the middle of my stomach, but hangs off me like curtains.

All I know is that the large Tees I bought six years ago fit more comfortably than they have in a while. I take this as a good sign.

Since when is it not OK to eat a whole cake?

I just love the imagery of eating a whole cake. Makes me laugh every time.

Well if the only clothes that fit fat bastards were clothes in "fat bastard" size, you'd see a lot more fat bastards walking around in really tight clothing.

You may think its for their self esteem but its also as a favor to us.

Besides if we were really to have truth in advertising, at 6'2" and 175lbs, it sounds like you ought to be wearing the Tall, Skinny Bastard size. ;)

I think it has to do with the fact that people (ok...men) tend to like their shirts larger. Where, in reality, guys with a slender or medium sized frame look better in a form fitting shirt.

I've found the opposite...

I've just started buying t-shirts from American Apparel because I love the way they fit and feel...most comfortable shirts I've ever owned. But despite the form fittedness, I have to go with an XL for it to be not overly tight in the arms and shoulders, where Large will do in any other brand.

I've noticed this kind of stuff in women's clothing lately. It drives me crazy. I have absolutely no idea what size I am anymore.

I went to "Le Chateau" once recently ( ) and their "extra small" was too big for me. In the past a medium was usually fine. It's ridiculous. So I basically couldn't buy a shirt there because they had bumped up (down?) all their sizes. They're not really fooling anyone either.

I don't want my ego stroked when I go to buy clothes, I just want to walk in, find the right size, and get the hell out of there. So annoying.

important issue - since clothing companies are changing the sizes of their shirts for fatty mcfatfats, logic would dictate that they would do the same for pants. I've been wearing 34x34 pants for like the past 5 years and they've always fit the same, though.

i think guys gauge their fatness by pant waist size. we don't care if we wear an L or XL or whatever. but when i went from a 32x34 to a 34x34 i was like "hoooollyy crap! i'm fatter! i'm older! my metabolism has slowed! heeeelllllppp meeeee!

With AA clothing, I always have to buy a size smaller if I'm getting a guy's shirt (most band t-shirts) and my normal size for girl's stuff. However, the long sleeved AA shirts are horrible... the sleeves are probably a good three inches longer than needed since washing the shirt.

I do love how soft their clothing stays. Mmm.

Yea, I've got a Mogwai and Sigur Ros shirt that they used AA shirts, and they are ridiculously awesome shirts.

Yeah I wear an XL in AA stuff too. They do tend to fit tight in the arm as well. But just the ringer t's. I fucking love these t-shirts. We get them wholesale through a friend though. Otherwise I wouldn't spend the money on their stuff.

Well, a large part of their customer base is huge goth girls so that could explain part of that.

American sizes are much bigger than Canadian sizes too, I've noticed. I ordered a Cure shirt off an American site. Usually I go with a medium or large. I accidentally order an extra-large and the thing is like a tarp. I could use it as a bedsheet. Now, whenever I buy from the US, I go with medium and that's generally still kind of baggy but the only thing that'll fit length-wise.

Target charges like $2 more for the XXL and bigger. Is this racism, or just compensation for using more material?

I've found I fit better in Large than XL, but after a few washes the L shrink and then I can't wear 'em.

Don't men get smaller as they get older? You hardly ever see a hugely tall rickety old man walking down the street.
