I went camping for the last three days in the Outer Banks in North Carolina. I spent many many hours on the beach. I forgot to put sunscreen on my feet. Honestly, who remembers to do that?

Anyway, my feet are blistered and I have to have "dress shoes" on all day.

sun = ouch.

That's the one place on my body that always sunburns without fail.

I always forget about my feet. And even if I do remember sunscreen for them somehow it always goes on uneven and my ankles and feet have uneven burns.

Considering the author of the thread, I figured it had a good chance before even opening it.

I sunburned my feet when I was, like, 7 or 8. Hurt like a muffugga. Haven't done it since. Weird how it works like that.

Taiwan last year I had this conversation.

Vida- you should put sunscreen on your feet.
Me- on my feet? that's silly.
Vida- no, really. you should put...

Rinse, Repeat. Rinse, Repeat.

The next day was filled with agony and I-told-you-sos. They itched like bastards for weeks and I still have the color from the burns.

Last year, when we opened our pool, I stayed out too long with the kids, and since it was only like 80 degrees, my stupid mind was tricked into thinking I wasn't getting burned. I ended up with 2nd-degree burns on my shoulders and upper back.

No, I’m the maker of bad threads. Almost all of mine go without any sort of response at all (and those are usually the music related ones…sigh).

Anyhow, I feel your pain. I mean the heat coming off of your feet can be felt for miles. No, seriously, I did something similar. I went fishing on the banks of the Potomac and got terrible sunburn on part of my legs. I was wearing Capri pants (i.e. pants that come below the knee) and tennis shoes with socks so the burn was very noticeable, in a straight 4 inch band just above my ankles. I made the mistake, too, of coming home and putting Vaseline on it (thinking I needed to moisturize the skin). What it did, unknown to me at the time, was created a block preventing the heat from escaping my body. Apparently, you need to apply ice and cold water and don’t put much of anything on it at first. Years later, I still have a faint band that you can see where the burn was so I’ve evidently done a heap of skin damage.

The moral of the story is: Never wear capri pants because you'll get severely sunburned. And, they're ugly as hell. :)

White vinegar. A fair amount of it and as soon as possible. It's amazing how well (and how quickly) it works.

No moral of the story is, just like your feet, anything exposed to sun is subject to burn. And, for the record, these were cute Capri pants...ala Mary Tyler Moore on the Dick Van Dyke show (the ugly part is wearing them with shoes and socks, which I had to do so I didn't get bit by the river flys).

Ahhh...this is the reason no one replies to my threads and why I was noticeably absent from the "glad girls are now posting on Obner" thread. I think I am going to have to change my name.

Ugh, oh yeah! I should have remembered that from when I was a child and got sunburned in the Bahamas and was made to take a bath in vinegar...to this day I cannot stomach anything with a vinegar taste or smell.

My original plan was to just post a link to one of your threads in here. :)
