I don't listen to the radio and never read the charts so I've no idea who is big over here (well save for what they play at the gym) but I do know that one of her songs was covered on American Idol which led me to think she was already big over here.

Also, the World Cafe-loving Adult Alternative subculture is as massive, if not more so than the indie rock one. Those polite singer songwriters with their sturdy murmurings and Joni/Hiatt worship can consistently move 50-60-thousand CDs. Takes a couple years to move that product, but that's better than a lot of indie rock icons do.

It gets derided as Smart Soccer Mom music or Modern Dad Rock, but there's some very good artists in that lot.

I'm Ok with that hit song of hers but I haven't heard anything else. And I'm too preoccupied with Regina Spektor right now to give other unheard vagina rock any attention.

I'm an indie snob and it's just not good. Check out Lily Allen & Sandi Thom. A lot better in my opinion.

the album is not very good. the live show was aight. heavy hardcore expensive promotions effort from her team in the u.s. also nominated for a mercury prize which she thankfully did not win.

In my opinion, if an artist like KT Tunstall doesn't have a huge i mean HUGE hit, what's the point?

I don't understand these midle of the road pop rock acts surviving when they really aren't that popular.

If you're gonna make this sort of music, then you better well have a MASSIVE HIT SONG.

I don't have anything against her, and i sure as hell don't like the music at all, but at least give me something.

This may be one of the dumbest things I've ever read.

Whatever man. I just don't like this entire genre, it's one of those ones that i've heard enough of and can now entirely rule out, a la 'emo'.
