They are playing Atlanta tonight at Smith's Olde bar and I'm thinking about going.

I love their records and I'll probably go but I'm just tired as shit at work right now and I need someone to tell me that they fucking rock to give me the push I need to go.

So, anyone?

I've seen them live a bunch of times and they do indeed rock. If you like their records you'll definitely enjoy their live show. They always bring a lot of energy.

I haven't seen them like in quite awhile, but they were always a great show. I'd go.

I'm not a fan, so this probably doesn't mean much, but they were [EDIT*] really lame at this: http://www.irvingplaza.com/bands/bio.php?ID=1782

*not the worst act - Deborah Harry and Jesse Malin were worse.

Did you not see the momentum that was building here Haq?

The air has been let out of the balloon now.

I think it's just because I don't like their music. If a band I liked played a gawking, overly earnest set of songs I liked, I probably would have a great time.

I think Radcliffe reviewed a show of theirs somewhere.

Shit, I wanna go.

Let's go Derris.

I thought they were better than the DBTs. And I fuckin' loved the DBTs.

That said, they're a real deal (ahem) rock'n'roll band, which means they're prone to good shows, bad shows, and outright disasters. You and Bloor have GOTTA go.

That's Marah's drummer and guitarist. They come out as a 2-piece, with the drummer as lead vox. He's amazingly good. And his songs are deep in the Marah/Springsteen side of things. It's worth catching them.

Thanks for the heads up Rads. I knew I could count on ya.

Jesus Haq. I guess that's the sign of a healthy relationship when you can openly throw her under the bus with no reservation. Kudos.

But if you can't see how anyone can like the music, you can't see how anyone could have a great time! MY LOGIC IS FLAWLESS!

Goddammit, Haq, don't force me to bring out the obvious response here. I'm trying to minimize my percentage of posts containing the word "radiohead".

So I'm right. I do enjoy gawking, overly earnest Radiohead shows.

or Okkervil River, Elliot Smith, or whatever else Haq loves that is more gawking or overly earnest than anything Marah has touched.

Okkervil River is emphatically NOT more earnest than fruit by the foot.
