the main reason i've never gotten into him. other artists (notably iron and wine) create the nostalgic, timeless feel that oldham seems to be going for, but are much more convincing to me.

well, mr semantics, in my parlance, 'real' means 'cool' or whatever synonym works for you.

and secondly, there is nothing insincere about the record in question.

Actually, as much as I LOVE 'I see a Darkness' I don't own any of his other stuff. Funny as hell, but true. HAHAHA....

i think everything about him is an act, but that doesn't bother me or make me think the music is insincere. not trying to be a jerk. sorry if it came off that way.
