70 in a 55 mph zone.

will my parents kill me and hate me forever?
i've cried all night.

i want this to go away. i guess i'm an adult now and i will be handling these things on my own, so they'll say whatever.. as long as i go to driving school so my insurance doesn't go up because i am still on their insurance.

the cop dropped it by 5 mph because i was crying and apologizing when he stopped me.

atleast he did that. i wish he dropped it another 5. or another 5... gave me a warning.
oh well.

fuck the police

i really can't stop worrying about it. court is in a month. i've never been to court. i don't want my parents to be upset with me
i feel like such a little shithead

someone tell me like all things this too shall pass.

or everything will be okay..

its not a big deal. everyone gets speeding tickets.

15 mph isn't that bad

your parents will forgive you.
friends can leave you but family is kind of stuck there so they'll have to get over it.

consolation? i'm being such a whiny baby.

I'm not sure why you're so worried about it. I mean I was really pissed off when I got mine and I wanted to punch the asshole in the face for the rest of the day...but it's not like you're facing legal charges or anything. You'll go to driving school and then it will be over with.

Everything will be fine, just learn your lesson, make sure you've got your tunes and are in a good frame of mind, leave early for wherever you're headed, and enjoy the drive.

As long as you do that, you'll be straight.

you have to go to court? i've had two speeding tickets and just paid the fine. my first was apparently 64 in a 35. there was no way i was doing 64 (60, maybe) and there is no way that the stretch of road should be 35. it has three lanes! i got my second ticket five months later. i haven't had a blemish since then.

If you go to court you don't have to pay for the ticket.

if i go to court i pay a court fine rather than paying the full price of the ticket. i also go to driving school for one day which costs a little but in the end costs less than the ticket itself. driving school takes the offense off of my record.

Trust me CP. 70/55 aint that bad.

I got that 52/25 a few months back. Cost me $191 bucks. But, things are ok. I called my car insurance and they told me that because I was in the most preferred customer category, I would have to get a DUI or witness an accident and not report it before my insurance would go up. Maybe that's because I haven't had a ticket the 9 years prior to that.

Virginia is one of the most rigid/most expensive states for speeding. I definitely suggest going to the drving school. I got 2 speeding tickets when I was 17 and they sent me. They give you like 5 negative points on your driving record. That speeding ticket you got is only 3. If anything, that should benefit your insurace. If this is your first ticket and you go to traffic school, they will probably not even hear about that ticket.

Traffic school is the read deal. Your ticket would cost probably 90-100 bucks with court costs and all. So, again, go to traffic school.

You're 18 now right? Do you not have your own insurance? Still on your parents'?

Why "fuck the police"? You broke the law, cops were just upholding it.

speeding tickets are lame. you'll just pay the fine and be on your way.

if you get too many they may take your license away or raise your insurance rates. that's the worst that can happen, unless your parents discipline you.

77 in a 55.
88 in a 70. This one was the best (about 8-9 years ago). The Mississippi State Trooper was actually going north on I-55 while I was going south. He cut across the median and pulled me over down the road. Nice going, eh.

I got a 80 in a 55 at 3 am in Lowndes County, GA...I should still be under a jail somewhere, but homie let me go with a ticket, no search, no dogs.

That was a Monday, coming back from Florida.

That Friday, going to see my dad, got a 83 in a 55..The Alabama statie seemed cool. We bs'd a bit, talked about football, and then he gave me my ticket and told me to slow down.

All told the damage was around $560...or about 1/4 of the money I had stashed for school that year.

Got one 2 weeks ago as well. Still gotta pay that bugger: $155.

And Tania -- FUCK THE HO-LICE!!

in 2004, after a honeymoon in hawaii, i still had vacation time and went with wife from denver to see her family in green river, wyoming. on the way back, i just wanted to be home, and sped most of the way, finally caught doing 90 in a 65 (or whatever it was at the time) near larimee. that cost $200. ouch.

that's my only speeding ticket, and i've exceeded the limit in every continental state. :)

i was pulled over once for speeding around la crosse on the way from milwaukee to oshkosh. but cop let me go with a warning since i was wearing my seat belt. i did not have to cry (and i didn't either).

I've never got a ticket. Been pulled over 4+ times. Always let off with a warning. I always thought it was because of my DOD USAF stickers.

I've probably been pulled over at least 10 times and have never gotten a ticket. I'm always really calm, apologize once, and sit there quietly. It's always worked. I've even had my car searched for drugs (didn't even have any - was driving erratically for miles) and I've done the field sobriety test (had three beers at a bar then drove home) and have always been let go with a warning. That's pure luck.

Your parents will probably be pissed, but it'll pass. I crashed my mom's car when I was 17 (but I've never gotten a ticket! ha.). My dad didn't talk to me for an entire month and I lost all driving privileges for what seemed like forever, but they got over it. Yours will, too.

I don't even have a car and I got a speeding ticket a couple months ago. I was driving across WI with my girlfriend. I was driving her car and got ticketed for 87 in a 65.

The ticket was $261. Whoa! But as everyone else has mentioned, you pay it and get on with your life. it's not that big of a deal.
