yeah, ok i will. some dude was running on the field at the metrodome, which they never show. you know how it is, they show you boring shots of players watchig it. so papi is waiting at the plate, and he's digging it, laughing. he is a jovial dominican man who can mash baseballs, in case you didn't know.

anyway, it's going on forever. and then the announcers, who are annoying all night (bummer when the baseball package doesn't give you the nesn boroadcast), suddenly they are talking about it more than they normally would because the dude is running the bases. then the crowd goes wild and all the twins players (we are getting a boring shot of their dugout) start applauding. getting up to applaud. the crowd is relaly into something, and an annoucer says 'that was awesome.'

then they gave a replay to put the 'heroics' on display. dude runds the bases, slides headfirst into the plate, gets up, and then...BAM!!! batboy time!!! he comes out of nowhere and levels the dude. he's on top of him and the guy is struggling, but he can't budge the batboy!!! then security, who couldn't do the job themsemves, takes over. it was pretty dope.

Was this a little kid batboy, or one of those too-old-to-be-a-batboy batboys?

"As soon as the guy rounded third, there weren't any guards around, so I thought I'd hit him," said Nate Reese, 25, who received plenty of praise afterward in both clubhouses. (ESPN.com)

I think 25 counts as a "bat-man".

Still searching for the video...

This happened at a Royals game a couple weeks ago, except it was in the outfield. And from the descriptions on the radio, our batboy made a spectacular open-field tackle. You could literally hear the crowd ( such as it was ) go "OOOHHHHHHHH!!!!!" when he brought down the doofus.

As a Twins fan, I've been entertained the past two nights. And in spite of the second grand slam in as many days, I would have to agree: the batboy tackle was the highlight last night.

A funny thing about the Schilling - Santana matchup on Tuesday: I read the coverage from the Boston papers, and they thought it was a great game as well. You don't always get reporters that gracious in a loss. I dig Boston.

I guess the Indians didn't play there that much.....oh wait sure they did. Not to mention Milton Bradley.

They should replace those "RAN ONTO FIELD" graphics with "COMPLETE AND UTTER MORON".

So much for not encouraging this sort of behavior.

The amount on news presented in our local news broadcasts (Twin Cities) is embarassingly low.

6:00-6:07 Headlines, skewed to local flavor. Weather often leads the newscast.

---commercial break---

6:09-6:13 Human interest story. Batboy tackle would fit in here.

---commercial break---

6:16-6:21 Recap of the weather/forecast

---commercial break---

6:23-6:28 Sports

6:28-6:29 "Before we go..." Some news of the weird piece with a film clip.

6:29-6:30 Jovial chuckling, witty quip, shuffling of paper, fade to black.
