so, of course, somebody had to be the asshole. that somebody was me. cruised by the park last night on my way home, & due to having my bike with me, couldnt go in to the bandshell to sit for the maceo parker show.
additionally, my gf, who is from dallas, wanted me to see if i could tape the mavs game. so i stayed for about a half an hour, then went home.
then about an hour or so later, the text messages start pouring in:
'i heard a rumor prince is gonna be here'
'if yr still here, dont go'
'ITS NOT A RUMOR'

MOTHERFUCKING PRINCE SHOWED UP IN PROSPECT PARK TO PLAY LAST NIGHT & I WAS HOME WATCHING A BASKETBALL GAME I BARELY GAVE A SHIT ABOUT.

I AM AN ASSHOLE.

i will never, ever, EVER, skip a music event for some dumbass sporting event ever again.

t, i cant blame her. i very easily couldve said no, but i didnt. i also couldve gone back when it was just a rumor, but i didnt, b/c ive been subject to these rumors before, and generally speaking i wind up wandering around the park like a dummy looking for something that never happens.

we live in the dark ages: no cable, and a vcr with no remote.
it's not much of a priority for us, really... just every once in a blue moon it sucks. yesterday was the once in a blue moon, i guess.

we dont have cable, tivo, or even internet at home. hell, we dont even have a microwave. those things are just not a priority for us. we still listen to the radio for news rather than watch tv. we go for walks. we do crossword puzzles together.
i dont know, i had the cable tv/internet thing happening when i was married, and i didnt like it much. it contributed to way too much time-wasting on my part. trying to focus my energy [and money] on my creative output and being more active now.
