That Argentina goal. Wow

24 passes apparently.

Best team by a mile so far. Compare this with the endurance that is watching Group B.

Absolutely. Makes me even more pissed that it was T&T that ended up in that group instead of us. We could DEFINITELY have won that group, if we weren't bored to sleep by the other teams. Not that it would have been fun to watch though

S&M, injuries notwithstanding, are surprisingly lacking in teeth so far this tournament.

Shame the Holland-Argentina game (probably) won't have a huge amount of significance. It could have been a cracker

Sven needs to decide what to do with Beckham as Lennon gives us a much better option down the right and put a lot more pressure on the full back, which opens the game for others. We need Becks for his set pieces and awesome deliveries, but where would you play him?

Although with Lennon pushing forward and drawing two defenders, it frees up Beckham to deliver quality crosses in (such as the first goal on the Crouch header).

Where was the robot dance from Crouch? Is it already played out?

Man, that was simply stunning. They just look the complete outfit don't they. Not just the awesome passing & moving but the defence is so solid. Ayala is class.

Tevez looks shit hot, no wonder Chelsea are after him.

Argentina=The definition of Joga Bonito

Next up Ruud and the boys see if they can hold off Drogba et al. Maybe I shuld be saying Robben and the boys. As a huge Holland fan this game has me sweating bullets. Especially since a victory against Argentina will be hard to find.

amazing... country which had the best defensive record in history of european qualifying, in one game lets in 6 times the amount of goals they conceded in 10 games

Time for that Civil War to get cranked back up.

I think Ivory Coast can get to the Dutch in the 2nd half to get at least an equalizer. When they have found space, they blow right by the defender, sometimes it is just that last touch or pass that fails them.

Sorry, i missed this. Crouch has vowed that he will only do his dance when he scores in the final, hehe. He said something along the lines that he's not gonna do it as he would like to be taken seriously.

Where would you play Beckham though if Lennon is down the right and who would you drop? It's really tough to work Beckham into the team unless he is down the right. You could play him at right back but he cannot tackle, you could drop one of Gerard/Lampard but again this would weaken the centre. You could play 3 at the back and overload midfield or you could play with just one up front.

I'm willing Ivory Coast to get a goal...

Argentina are looking on fire. Im glad i bet on them before the cup started. The right mix of youth (Messi, Saviola, Tevez, Rodriquez and all) combined with the experience of the likes of Crespo, Ayala and Sorin. Fucking brilliant to watch.

They have a hunger that Brazil just isnt showing. Age wise Brazil are a bit older, and many of the players (Adriano and Robinho notwithstanding) are playing in their 2nd,3rd or even 4th cup. The experience will help later on, but i just dont see them playing with the passion and excitement Argentina had.

That's pretty decent actually. After last night's performance it would have gone way down.

Some of the local bookies still have England listed as second favourite. I can only guess this is due to all the expats keeping the dream alive, cos they are NOT winning this thing

There's a good case for saying Cafu is the greatest right back of all time but he looked finished the other night. He's 37 now and he just can't make the 80 yard runs anymore.

And Brazil can only afford to have one lazy striker in the team. Ronaldo and Adriano aren't going to cut it together.

2002 was fun with all the upsets, especially considering the US provided a couple of them. But, with everything going more to form this time around, I expect some much better games once we get to the knockout rounds with the big guns all staying in it and shooting it out with one another.

WOW

Now, all we need is for the US to upset Italy and the group can be tied with all terams having 3 points going into the third games.

...i can dream for a little while more anyway...

Thats made things interesting. Czech have to beat Italy, then it would all be about who has the best goal difference on who makes the second round.

Much respect to ghana.

I hope Pimpong scores a late one.
