Hey they are playing with The Dirtbombs. Who are Blue Cheer? What they sound like?

The Chicago gig is also with Roky Erickson.
And the bass player in my band is going to get to hang with Roky. He and his wife are friends with his drummer.

Haha I'm just kidding. I mean I do like them, but they've been around since the late 60s/early 70s and haven't really done much since. You should check their stuff out though, I can't imagine anyone actively disliking them.

You will enjoy it if you are a fan of the MC5, Hawkwind, etc., or even stuff like Mudhoney or early Oneida.

Formed in the late '60s, named as part of a weird promotion for Owsley's new (at the time) crop of LSD, best known for the world's shittiest version of "Summertime Blues". But maaaan, they were retarded, plodding heavy metal before there WAS retarded, plodding heavy metal.

That ringing guitar note is way better than Pete Townshend's dumb ass growling.

Hey this isn't a post-punk thread. You weren't supposed to enter, so then my comment would have been accurate.

Vincebus Eruptum could definitely use a remastering, now that we're on the topic. Also, I never saw the fathers of metal connection with Blue Cheer despite hearing it forever.

Hard to find adequate words to describe how bad an idea this sounds like to me.

Well, the "fathers of metal" thing is admittedly hard to see from a modern vantage point. But put it this way: I've got a book called Rock Revolution, compiled by the editors of Creem magazine back in '73, that has a section dedicated to heavy metal. Understandably, Black Sabbath is cited in that section - but the other bands that were considered heavy metal were:

the Who
Velvet Underground
Jimi Hendrix
Cream
the MC5
the Stooges
Vanilla Fudge
Iron Butterfly
Blue Oyster Cult
Alice Cooper
Humble Pie
Deep Purple
Grand Funk

So, compare pretty much everything on that list to what Blue Cheer sounded like - and you'll hear that "fathers of metal" claim a little more clearly.
