For The Lhasa Fans.

Last night, at the record store, I must've grabbed and put back Lhasa's latest album about 10 times. The only reason I was interested is because I've seen them on peoples' Top 20 lists. Should I have bought it?

Me too. The only reason I haven't bought it is because it's always $17.99 or something around here.

The only song I've heard was on a mix that Billy G sent me and I liked it. I've heard nothing but praise for it.

Yeah, it was a bit pricey. I think, $18.99, but I would still buy it if it's worth it.

you don't like songs sung in foreign languages, right? (or i could be totally wrong about that). only 3 songs are in english. the others are in french and spanish. it's really hard to know if any given person will like lhasa. i love the album, it was in my top 20. i just think she has an incredibly sexy voice.

Lhasa is a person, aka Lhasa De Sela. She rocks.
Her first album is incredible and heartbreakingly beautiful and her second one is even more so. Both are highly recommended.

She lives in good old Montreal.

Sings in English, French and Spanish.

It's surprisingly good. It's not going to make my top 20 list, only because I haven't heard it enough times, and it doesn't resonate with me the way, for example, most metal does (if it was released and I bought it in January, I suspect I would have forgotten it by now).

But it's really really good, and I can see why other people would put it on their year-end list.

I keep confusing them with Ilya, though. I think I liked that one better.

Yeah I almost bought Slint's Spiderland last night too but there's no way I'm paying $14.99 for 6 songs, no matter how good they are. I'll have to check some used record stores sometime.
