I'm spouting a boner for this shit. Has anyone given much attention to them around here? Heady, droning music that is still magically light and positive. To me, that is rare and always welcome.

I'm listening to a live cassette (in mp3) called "London/Sussex" that is fucking sick.

I have one thing on my computer at home that I haven't really listened to. I've been meaning to look into them for a while.

I saw them open for Mogwai in March, and at the time knew nothing of them. It was really good, though not the best sort of thing for at a venue where you couldn't sit down and listen. It was cool to watch them work all their effects equipment, too.

True. I seen 'em at a proper venue and in a parking lot, and the parking lot show was stunning. The venue gig was dull. Go figure.

Drinky, you'd probably want to check out that 3 song EP they put out last year first. And if I get my ass around to ripping "Amanita" for you, I'll do this too.

will do.

also check out Wolfmangler. total chamber doom.

"Wolfmangler is another project from the Polish Moustache otherwise known as D Smolken, also of Garlic Yarg and Dead Raven Choir. The sludgefest follows the chamber doom quartet lineage of their previous releases, the bass/bass/double bass here being augmented by what sounds like a flute and maybe a French horn. And a big drum. The drum and flute give songs like "King Guthrum" an almost Korean court music feel, but the French horn pulls the soupy bass throb closer to Noggin The Nog territory. There's also a kind of Ray Harryhausen feel, something reminescent of the awakening of a plasticine dragon or the approach of clunkily animated skeletons holding swords, maybe one skelly has one of those spiky ball and chain thingies. If you could sonically render the effect of heavy rags being hypnotically stirred into a cauldron of molten pitch with a severed antler this is the sound you would get. All the while, Smolken hisses elegies, spits dirges and generally growls one off, rolling his R's like a proper movie baddy. Totally book.

I also saw them open for Mogwai (in Chapel Hill, though) and I dug them. Reminded me of seeing Black Dice open for GY!BE a few years ago, though this time I had more of an appreciation for this type of music. I thought about getting some merch, but ran out of money.

If you guys like growing, check out another drony post rock/electro-acoustic group called Belong. They are a little more reminiscent of someone like fennesz or Keith Fullerton Whitman, though saturated with guitar.

Anyone want to start a drone/noise band with me called: Syllable...as in nothing over one word with two syllables to be classified as such...christ we have Boris, Fennesz, Sunn 0)))(which almost counts), Felt, Belong, Earth, Jesu....nevermind...stupid anyway...

Just Check out Belong - October Language...and they actually are breathtaking to see live, they don't do much, but the music makes one take notice.

I just found this used (His Return, right?), and so I picked it up. I may post thoughts later.

Yet another band with "Wolf" in its name...weird.

There also seems to be a lot of bands with "Mouse" in their name.

I think someone should make a Mouse vs. Wolf mix c.d., heh.

I'm forming a band called Mouse On Wolf.

Or Wolf and Mice Parade.
