Sebadoh III To Be Reissued With Bonus Tracks

Sebadoh, the eternal champions of lo-fi indie rock, will make a return to store shelves this summer when their III album is reissued by Domino.

The new-look III will be a two-disc set containing the original album as well as an extra disc of b-sides and rarities. It's scheduled for release on July 10 in the U.K. and August 8 in North America.

The bonus disc consists of 18 tracks recorded around the time of III's sessions. It opens with the group's Gimme Indie Rock EP, an examination and deconstruction of the genre that Sebadoh played such a pivotal role in.

Sebadoh were formed in 1986 by ex-Dinosaur Jr. member Lou Barlow and Eric Gaffney. They were joined by Jason Lowenstein just before the original release of III in 1991 on Homestead Records. They recorded prolifically through the mid-'90s

Though Sebadoh haven't released a new album since 1999, the band also haven't officially broken up. Barlow and Lowenstein will play Sebadoh songs while touring Europe in October. They've embarked on similar outings as a two-piece several times over the last few years, backed by a CD of pre-recorded drums.

first i'll say, in the history of sebadoh i've never said, "man i wish this album had MORE songs"

but i'll also say that "gimmie indie rock" is one of their best songs.
and "ride the darker wave" is pretty awesome too.

I'm definitely picking this up. It's one I never got when I went on my Sebadoh kick. Lame, I know.
