I know we have this thread every month or so but I'm looking to get about a 60 or 80GB internal hard drive for my laptop...something reliable that will last a long time and while I'm obviously not looking to spend a lot of cash don't be afraid to recommend something good because of price.

In the meantime I'll be searching the old threads.

Try Tom's Hardware. They have a bunch of charts and reviews and cost comparison bullcrap that will make your eyes glaze over.

make sure you get a fast one at least 7200rpm

with laptops the HD is a bottleneck

But they're more expensive and they drain the battery faster, so you have to decide what's more important.

what are the advantages of higher rpms?
