(And before you say it, I know, but I don't like the mix forum.)

Found some old CDs from back in the day when I had my radio show in high school. These mixes bring back a lot of memories and remind me of where I was musically back when I first started posting on CMJ and starting getting recommendations from you bunch of clods. So basically, thanks.

Oh and by the way, they weren't made as mixes per se, but as material to play on the show that night so no attn is paid track order or multiple artist stuff. This was about playing a radio show, not trying to impress some lame chick.

There are 5 and they will be arriving in installments according to the correlation between my boredom level and Dalen's masturbation (read : wanking) level.

Volume I
1. Aerosmith - Walk This Way
2. Ben Kweller - How It Should Be (Sha Sha)
3. BK - Wasted & Ready
4. Beta Band - Dry The Rain
5. Bob Marley - Jamming
6. Disco Biscuits - The Devil's Waltz
7. Pink Floyd - Money
8. Radiohead - Everything in its right place
9. Radiohead - I Might Be Wrong
10. Radioehad - Maquilladora
11. Clash - Rudie Can't Fail
12. The Hippos - Wasting My Life
13. Weezer - My Name Is Jonas
14. Wilco - Heavy Metal Drummer
15. Wilco - I'm the man who loves you
16. Wilco - Jesus, etc.
17. Wilco - Poor Places
18. Wilco - War on war
19. Beatles - Happiness Is A Warm Gun
20. BDB - A Peak You Reach

I don't think any of my high school and college mixes had the same artist twice on a mix. Though that was before recorded sound, so it would have been hard.

I made mix tapes when I was graduating high school and they were shitty. Usually all the songs I wanted from CD's I borrowed from friends, so most of the mixes had no more than five or six different artist. I didn't start making proper mix cd's until I started downloading a ton of crap.

I know they're just crap. I'm just lame. I didn't post this stuff to impress you guys.

If I wanted real friends I wouldn't spend so much time on an online message board (ahem)

Then why did you post them? I understand that a lot of people have been giving you shit lately and not all of it is warranted. So I guess I can understand why you are on the defensive. But I'm not sure what you're trying to accomplish by implying we're all a bunch of losers who spend to much time online.

I don't think those mixes are awful and as you say most of us listened to yhf and yoshimi a couple of years ago. I think that's what ducky's pointing out is that its a little early to start feeling nostalgic for those albums and there isn't much else there that is either new or forgotten. It just seems to be a bit of a masturbatory exercise cause you're bored at the moment, no? just my 2 cents.

My friend just found some old mixed cd's from when we were fourteen and fifteen skateboarding in front of our friend's house all day.

We listened to one and were hitting the skip button non-stop. Propagandhi, Anal Cunt, Goldfinger, MxPx, old NOFX, etc.

Pretty painful to listen to today.

This thread totally made me rummage through a box of tapes instead of going to sleep. Crap. I think this mix was made just after high school ended:

Side 1:
People Who Grinned Themselves to Death -- Housemartins
One Step Ahead -- Split Enz
Six Different Ways -- The Cure
My Bag -- Lloyd Cole
President Gas -- Pysch Furs
I Held Her In My Arms -- Violent Femmes
Children of the Revolution -- Violent Femmes
Shoplifters of the World Unite -- Smiths
Kosciusko -- Midnight Oil
Time and Time Again -- Smithereens
No Action -- Elvis Costello
When the Angels -- Prefab Sprout

Side 2
Elephant Talk - King Crimson
Looking For Girls -- Pursuit of Happiness
Vanishing Girl -- Dukes of Stratosphear
Earn Enough For Us -- XTC
The Shyest Time -- Apartments
Diamond Smiles -- Boomtown Rats
Castroville Street -- Thrashing Doves
Town Called Malice -- The Jam
Power & the Passion -- Midnight Oil
Father to Son -- The Alarm
Somebody Might Wave Back -- Waterboys
A Pagan Place -- Waterboys

First of all, if I wanted advice on masturbatory exercises I'd ask Dalen's wife.

Secondly, if you read the original post...these aren't mixes I listened to at the time. This were made for the express purpose of playing some of these songs on my radio show at the time. You see, in 2002, there warn't such a thing as an ipod, so I burned CDs when I wanted to listen to music. This wasn't a mix tape to give to somebody...

And as far as feeling nostalgic for my high school days (which yes, only ended three years ago), fuck off. I'm at home with my family for 3 weeks out of the whole year and I just attended three graduation ceremonies in two days, saw a bunch of old teachers, and stumbled upon these old cds that I haven't seen in 3 years.

It amazes me how negative some of us love to be...take an example from Gordo and go look at some of your old mix tapes. Or be like Timis (God Bless Him as per the thread) and comment positively on something. God forbid I don't start a thread about Radiohead, because obviously it would get shat on anyway.

And I'm not on the defensive, I'm bored. In 5 days I'll be all over Turkey like flies on curry, maybe then I won't waste my time trying to entertain/bore the peanut gallery.
