They used to call him Spit-Shine Tommy, he'd make your shoes look like mirrors.

I dunno if they go up there and tell you, but I don't shine shoes anymore.

so i was looking through an old National Geographic one day, and i found the photograph that Tommy's mom based her painting on. (the old guy on the boat)

Huh. I always thought that it was a painting of Martin by his real life mom, that he threw in the movie.
