Is there anything noteworthy coming out this month? My calendar is bare, aside from Spider-Man 2 on dvd at the end of the month.

November - December are always a slow period for new releases. A few interesting (although maybe only to me) reissues:

Baby Huey - The Baby Huey Story
V/A - Ghana Soundz, V. 2
Mark Sandman Box

np: Smokey Robinson & the Miracles "The Ultimate Collection"

According to Pitchfork the Can remasters will be released this month. The Spoon website said October so who knows. It kinda sucks that I just bought 4 of their albums in the last 2 years.

Also from Insound, stuff I may or may not care about:

THE ANOMOANON - joji
GLENN BRANCA - symphony no. 2 (reissue)
HANDSOME BOY MODELING SCHOOL - white people
NEKO CASE - the tigers have spoken
VAST AIRE - pegasus/red pill
BONNIE PRINCE BILLY - no more workhorse blues

Is this a live album, because i think i read that somewhere. Still, it is Neko but I don't think I need a live album from her.

Seems like the release schedule is a little dry after a hectic fall. bummer.

Yeah, it's live.

Looks dry, true, but the Can reissues!! Come on, somebody else has to care about that. Assuming they're really coming out this year, that is...

I still gotta catch up on some of the current new releases like Ted Leo, Le Tigre and Jimmy Eat World.

When is the new Spoon coming out? Wasn't that a Fall release?

What are some of your favourites from Can? I don't really know that much. I've only got Ege Bamyasi . What will the reissues come with?? Don't they always add bonus shit to them?? Gimme some Canhelp!!

The best are probably Tago Mago, Ege Bamyasi, and Future Days. Future Days is my favorite. The only other one I own is Soon Over Babaluma which is great, but it doesn't have Damo Suzuki. I've also wanted to pick up Monster Movie and Soundtracks, but I heard that these remasters were coming a while ago, so I decided to wait. Thankfully, these are supposed to be among the first batch released.

Hopefully the sound quality on these will be greatly improved over the previous ones which don't sound so great.

edit: The reissues won't have any bonus tracks, I don't think, but they're supposedly doubling as SACD. I'm guessing they'll be dual-coated like some of the Bob Dylan ones so they're supposed to play in any CD player.

Early 2005. No exact release date has yet been specified, but I'm hoping it's like the first Tuesday in January!

Would it sway you at all if I told you it's a live album of previously unreleased covers and originals?

I believe that the Seinfeld DVD's start coming out this November. I just hope they don't release them one season at a time. ugh. I can't wait like 3 years before the funny seasons come out.

"Monster Movie" is freaking incredible. It's their first official record and has Malcolm Mooney on vocals. I highly highly recommend that album.

Damn. And I got my hopes up and you just shattered my heart to pieces. Ok but seriously, yeah Spoon is scheduled for early '05.

I don't see anything interesting coming up in the next couple of months, which is good so I can catch up on other releases.
