...trying to think of some bands from the last 3 years that have been relatively successful and tend to rely on overdriven sonics like broken social scene, et al but i'm drawing a blank.

any suggestions?

Could you be more broad please? I'm having problems narrowing it down. I mean, the Rolling Stones are loud too sometimes...

I just saw Broken Social Scene yesterday. along with Feist and Bloc Party. It was a pathetic performance on all accounts. and $7 beer didn't help.

Yeah, but you were out, like, supporting the band and shit. I hate expensive drinks, which is why I rarely drink at shows.

Yeah, I was ready to throw out some names, but then I saw Broken Social Scene. I just don't know anymore.

Everything was a rip off, and the security staff were ridiculous. It was the same last year. I think bands need to consider the way their fans are being treated. first it's the ticketmaster bullshit "convenience" charges.. and then we're ripped off while we're there. They were selling mini hoodies to put on your ipod, for god's sake.

Have you listened to Double Death? Was wondering if it was worthwhile. I'm sure the DVD would be fairly cool.

I only listened to it once so not enough to form a solid opinion on it. I did watch most of the dvd and some of the performances are great but it's mostly video by the audience so don't expect anything professional.

That's what I expected. I was pretty much planning on waiting til it was used somewhere cheap(er) to pick it up.

My friend said BSS were the best she's seen them yet but I didn't go because them and Feist were the only ones playing I really cared about.

Last year's show with Modest Mouse was decent but agreed on everything being ridiculously expensive. I think all I bought last year was the Most Serene Republic cd and a slice of pizza. I stuck to free water from the water fountains.

Flaming Lips can be noisy at times, too.
