Anybody listen to these guys? I picked up "Post to Wire" over the weekend and this is some damn fine alt-country/americana type stuff. The little "postcard" songs on this album crack me up but they really tie the album together nicely.

This would've made my top 20 in 2004.

Anybody have any opinions on their back catalog?

RIYL- Son Volt, Whiskeytown, 16 Horsepower, solo Jay Farrar.

Yeah, I think I've always mixed up these guys and Langhorne Slim up for whatever reason.

Winnemucca, from 2002, is the only other one I've heard and it is very, very good.

B -- I have 2 of their albums from Caputo. (where is that MONG?!)

The song "Post to Wire" is damn good.

Agreed, one of my faves. I definitely like these guys. Is that Amy Ray who sings with them on 'Post To Wire'...anyone know?

No. I just checked. Her name is Deborah Kelly.

Loog, give it another spin. Post to Wire is great song but damn, Barely Losing, Through, and Willamette are all choice.

I've only spun it 2 times through though.

I know rparis and I are big fans of RF---I've got Lost Son, Winnemucca, Post to Wire and their most recent, The Fitzgerald. They're all very good---the last two made my top 20 of their respective year's.

Willy Vlautin is actually a friend of my wife's from high school---nice guy.

Let me know if you're interested and I'll hook ya up with an album or three.
