sgt peppers is my 2nd least favorite beatles album i own.
it's great, but the song aren't there for me the way the others are.

as for pet sounds, i think it's hard not to love "god only knows" and a few others. but i've never gone gagga over it.

I, for one, believe that the only way to fully appreciate Pet Sounds is to listen to it all at one-go, in a single sitting, with no distractions.

It is #1 on my Listmania! And is one of the only pieces of music that can consistently bring tears to my eyes.

One song that I didn't see mentioned yet is my favorite song on the album: "You Still Believe In Me". I'm not just spouting hyperbole when I say that the only vocal piece I can compare it to is Handel's Messiah. It's that powerful for me. And I wouldn't doubt that Handel was an ispiration for that song... when the full "choir" comes in at the end... chills.

I love this album with all my being.
I am one of those people that you may not understand.

But as Phil and Laura stated earlier... it may just not resonate with you. And that's cool. Personally. for me. I am just grateful for this music. Divinely inspired.

"I'm Waiting for the Day" is a great song from Pet Sounds that gets over-looked. I'm probably more in the boat of those who don't get why this is considered such a great album (always seems to be in the top 3 of any list) but I definitely do think it's very good. The music is really complex for being so "pop" and the production is tops.

I have to agree that it's hard to see its significance without being around when it first came out, though.

And Pet Sounds sounds just amazing on the DVD-A format. It's one of the only hi-rez discs I've bought where I'm really glad I forked over the money for it.

Still Mono, or is it that jerry-rigged stereo?

Which was, oddly enough, the name of Peter Frampton's character in the Sgt. Pepper's movie.
