How badly do I need to go tomorrow night at the House Of Blues?

Keep in mind that I am studying for the bar exam. Also, tickets are $18, and I may need to suck up another $12 in ticketmaster "convenience" fees if I can't make it down to the venue in time to get a ticket before the show. I also may need to go to the show alone, which I'm not too keen on.

They kind of kicked ass when I saw them a few years ago. Then again it's at the House of Blues...

Also keep in mind You In Reverse is easily one of my favorite records of 2006, so far.

Also, I agree with Timis.

If it's one of your favorites, just go. Enjoy the hell outta that sumbitch.

I was just looking for people to confirm what I thought--fuck the bar, just go.

Thanks all!

And when I receive word from the CA bar that I failed in November, I'll be sure to update this post.

P.S. Am I a gay for worrying about going to a show alone?

Yes, Yes, you are.
I tend to go to shows alone since my girlfriend doesn't like as much of variety as I do and she works at night during the week. I just went and saw Deadstring Brothers alone. I am notoriously early to shows, so I was basically the only person in the bar along with the staff and band for about an hour.
I say I don't like going to shows alone, but I probably enjoy them alot better alone.

look, you won't fail the fuggin bar...you're competing against a bunch of total jackasses. you just need to know a few bullet points to bs through the answers. you can pass even if you don't remember all the law. trust me.

going alone isn't so bad. no one to distract you from the b2s goodness...plus easier to hit on chicks.

HOB won't charge you those pesky Ticketmaster fees if you buy it directly from them. However, I would check to see if the show isn't sold out already. They're performing four nights here in LA and all are sold out except for Saturday's show which just got added today.

PS -- I'll be at Wednesday's show.

Saw BTS once.
Brought them to a whole new level for me.
Astonishing.

Of course, I've heard others argue the flipside.
But the one time I saw them... DAMN.

No shit. Maybe I'll go down there tonight then instead of tomorrow.

Last I checked tix were still available.

i always worry about going to a show alone.
and will ONLY really do it anymore if the band is one i HAVE to see.
(some shows i've gone to alone in the past.... pavement, sunny day real estate, wilco, BUILT TO SPILL)

and....built to spill was EASILY one of the best shows i've EVER attended.

you MUST go!

It's no secret that I long ago started going to shows alone. From doing so, I've formed some very cool friendships.

I thought BTS were pretty great when I saw them a few years ago though Modest Mouse blew them off the fucking stage.

A show I still regret missing is seeing BTS at The Point on the KILAS tour. Fucking tiny venue (long gone, too) and they did two nights, but we just couldnt get it together to make it down from Athens.

So go already.

Nah. Serious thought and "nervous hands" are involved when I go to a show alone, but I'm getting much better.

Of course, that's three more times than John Denver and Thurman Munson, COMBINED!

Heh heh. Thanks, FT.

Really, the last time I went alone it ended up being a dinner show and I wasn't expecting them to seat me at a table and place a menu in front of me, so I had only brought enough cash for the ticket and nothing else.

I had to tell the waiter I left my wallet at home and he looked at me with a sad expression on his face (for me, I think -- not for himself and this obvious tipless table he inherited) and said "can I get you a glass of water?". I'm such a dork, but if I made it through that and didn't get up and flee the venue, I think I can make it through almost anything now.

fin.
