In this thread, you post ideas. Ideas for movies/books/tv shows/inventions/laws/games/sports, etc. Anything. Anything where you could pitch the idea to someone or describe it to a friend and the initial response would be "What a fucking terrible idea."

And haha very funny... the first person to post "this thread" will receive an honorary WAFTI response to their response.

A modern-day adaptation of Moby Dick set in an American high school.

'Call me, Ishmael.' she scribbled hastily in her pink handwriting on the back of the cafeteria napkin before hurrying off with her friends. Ishmael studied the napkin as he watched her walk away. Her phone number had been jotted down messily under the three word sentence. She had even dotted the i in his name with a heart. Traditionally Ishmael would have capitalised the first letter in his name but, with instant messaging being all the rage among teenagers, grammar and punctuation were nearly at their death's door.

Starring John Goodman as Principal Dick.

My friend wants to get Habitat for Humanity to build him a house.

He's already formulated a plan to do so. It's complicated, and I forgot most of it, but I thought at the time it actually could work.

Congress passes a law designed to solve the immigration problem by tying full legal citizenship to military service of, say, five years. One mexe enlists and the entire immediate family is also granted citizenship, provided they receive and complete full English competency courses.

I thought of it while wasted over Memorial Day and it stuck. My friend in "the beltway" had the WAFTI response, but I kciked it around with LooGs and we could envision a scenario where it could get some political traction. Frankly, I'm amazed the GOP haven't thought of this yet because it'd be a slam dunk.

Stairwells in apartment blocks should be on the outside of the building.

That way significant space could be saved on the inside of the building and we could all get bigger closets.

Internet message boards, what a pathetic waste of time that would be.

(that show would've been a hit if they'd used "WAFTI" as a title)

Here's my bad movie idea from a thread a couple of months ago...

Quote:
I've got an idea for a romantic comedy starring Jin from TV's Lost and Kate Hudson.

She plays Kellie Wright, a Wellesley-educated advertising exec who has a gorgeous Trump Tower penthouse, but no one with whom to share it. She has everything she could possibly want in the world, except for true love. When her company limo breaks down one dreary October day en route from Downtown to Uptown, she is forced to take a cab for the first time in her sheltered life, where she falls head over heels for her cabbie, a hard-working (but rough-around-the-edges) immigrant named Li Wong. Hilarity ensues when Kellie invites her new beau to meet her WASP-y parents at their weekend home out in The Hamptons, in this Fall's most irresistable chick flick...

If Loving You is Wong, I Don't Want to be Wright

Scrrenplay by Nora Ephron
Directed by Chris Columbus
Rated PG

so we build a canal between every town in the country. of course, to accommodate traffic going in 2 directions, we need to build 2 canals between each town in the country.
