So I played that crazy show over the weekend.

The Olympic Island show here in Toronto with
BSS, Feist, J Mascis, Bloc Party and Raising the Fawn.

Of course I only sang one song, but it still felt like quite an ordeal in the days leading up to it.
In the end there were 10, 000 people there. Whoa.
Thankfully I calmed down in the hour before I went on.
Senor Six came along with me, being very supportive and helping me to monger some of the backstage food and beer.

In the end it went pretty well, I'd say. It was really fun to be a part of all that. That whole group of people really have a good vibe to what they do. the whole thing was very fun, relaxed, and easy-going.

It was cool to meet Feist---she was very sweet and thought she recoginzed me from somewhere.

I was also impressed by the fact that Mr. Kevin Drew actually came up to me and thanked me for being there. (My first encounter with him was years ago at a show my old band played with BSS where he was quite a little b*tch with me) heheh. (Mind you I've since met him in different circumstances and he's been charming. anyway.)

My quick review:

Raising the Fawn - wicked
J Mascis - wicked and extremely loud
Feist - wicked yet a little strained because she had the flu - still great to finally see her live.
Bloc Party - meh. not a fan. energetic but bland. my summary: "they sound like they've been influenced by the last two cure records."
BSS - Totally amazing, good lord are they amazing live. So much fun to watch. Such impressive musicianship and such a great vibe. Really wonderful.

I've got to imagine this sounded great. I'm really hoping someone taped it and will post in on FreeSoFree.net.

i heard they played "start choppin'" and some other post-barlow songs that'd been neglected at reunion shows.

They did and a couple of J Mascis + The Fog tunes which aren't as strong. Here's the setlist that was posted on Freak Scene:

Feel The Pain
Out There
Sameday
Lung
Start Choppin'
Ammaring
Tarpit
They Always Come
Thumb
Wagon
Get Me
