My copy came in the mail today. I haven't read the entire thing yet but I did flip through and the artwork is stellar.

It's a series of short comics by different authors & artists based on Belle And Sebastian songs. Some are literal translations from song lyrics to images. Some take only the slightest themes/ideas/characters from the song and write a story around them.

Suffice to say, with it being my favorite band and one of my favorite mediums, I have no reason not to expect this to be really great.

The "tracklisting" is:

The State I Am In
Expectations
I Could Be Dreaming
We Rule The School
Me And The Major
The Fox In The Snow
Get Me Away From Here, I'm Dying
Dog On Wheels
Lazy Line Painter Jane
You Made Me Forget My Dreams
Beautiful
Ease Your Feet In The Sea
The Model
The Chalet Lines
Nice Day For A Sulk
There's Too Much Love
Legal Man
Marx And Engels
Step Into My Office, Baby
Dear Catastrophe Waitress
Piazza, New York Catcher
If She Wants Me
Asleep On A Sunbeam
If You Find Yourself Caught In Love

Sounds pretty interesting.

The fact that it has a person crying on the cover is a little disconcerting though.

Still, sounds like a pretty cool idea. Let us know how it is.

Too bad theres no Century of Fakers or Sleep the Clock Around.

i browsed through this awhile ago. some of it's really neat and some of it's pretty bland. i think the neat outweighs the bland, though.

Yeah, for instance, "State I'm In" as a story about a guy at his brother's wedding and "Get Me Away From Here" as a fantasy about a young girl are great.

"Dog On Wheels", a wordless series of images about a wolf/dog driving a racecar is kind of bland. And "I Could Be Dreaming" as a cartoonish James Bond daydream is strange.

If you're a B&S fan though, it's clearly worth owning. It's long enough and cheap enough to make it worth your while.

This looks gayer than a pair of pink panties.

As a fan of comics I have tolerated some pretty ridiculous things: the Infinity Gauntlet, John Byrne's "Babe" series, people actually giving a damn that Hawkeye's dead, Rob Liefield. Just to name a few. This is on par with any of them.

I personally think the "dog on wheels" one is hilarious, though. Completely ridiculous but hilarious.
