So the latest is that the Hawks will trade down to Houston's spot and take Duke's Sheldon Williams...Image

God, I hate these people.

Meanwhile, I haven't heard or read one fucking person in the local or national media mention the guy that I want to get, Sergio Rodriguez as a possibility for the Hawks...

I'd like to see the Blazers get Morrison somehow, but I dont see it happen. Next I'd like to see Roy, but I dont see that happening either. Blazers will pick someone who really doesnt want to play and wants out of Portland in a year or two. Overall this team has nothing -

PG: Telfair (too small, no shot), Blake (a good bench guy), Jack (too early to tell)

SG: Juan Dixon (too small and streaky), Martell Webster (young and raw but could be a player)

F: Zach Randolph (fat and doesnt want to play), Darius Miles (could be awesome, but doesnt work on his outside shot, horrible work ethic like Randolph - but worse)

C: Pryzbilla (hard worker/shot blocker but often injured and may leave), Ratliff (same as Pryzbilla but older)

need to start over with Webster and maybe Jack.

i guess the consensus is that the bulls are going to draft tyrus thomas if they don't trade the pick away.

Love the draft. Especially the guys in the green room who think they are going in the top 5 or so and fall all the way to 19 or something. Complete train wreck that I have to rubberneck to see.

In light of this annual Hawks debacle I thought I'd state our case for complete futility and let the record show that we will completely blow this again.

My case:

2005 - Marvin Williams - jury is still out
2004 - 6th pick - Josh Childress - average at best, should be out of leage in 3-4 years capping a sub par career (passed on Luol Deng)
2003 - 21st pick - Boris Diaw - he rode the bench while here, went to Dallas and is now an all star (We passed on Josh Howard)
2002 - Traded away first pick to aquire DAN DICKAU!
2001 - 3rd Pick - Pau Gasol - traded to Grizzlies for Sharef-Abdur Rahim who never became the star we needed him to be and is no longer with the team. Gasol became the best European player in the NBA until Dirk & Ginobli. (passed on Eddie Curry, Jason Richardson, Tony Parker)

2000 - A Classic. 6th pick. DerMarr Johnson - a weak draft but pretty sure this guy was out of the league after 2 years. (passed on Quentin Richardson and Jamaal Magloire)

1999 - Openly had 4 picks in the 1st round and the only one still in the league is Jason Terry. Still managed to miss Ron Artest.
1998 - 22nd pick - Roshown Mcloud
1997 - 22nd pick - Ed Gray (????)
1996 - 28th pick - Priest Lauderdale (pretty sure the last 3 were out of the league after 2-3 years)
1995 - 16th pick - Alan Henderson - decent enough player that we decided to give a max contract to after 3 years that crippled us for a while.
1994 - 2nd round nobody that I don't think made it through camp
1993 - 15th pick - Doug Edwards - in a sub par draft we manage to get a sub par player. Passed on Sam Cassell.

1992 - Another CLASSIC. 10th pick - Adam Keefe - Not sure if he made through his first contract. Passed on Robert Horry, Harold Miner, Doug Christie, Hubert Davis, Jon Barry, and Latrell Sprewell.

1991 - 9th pick. Stacey Augmon. Not bad. Decent career. We had another first round pick that was out of league in 1 year.
1990 - Another great one. 10th pick. Rumeal Robinson. - Didn't make it through his first contract. Passed on Terry Mills, Dee Brown, Jayson Williams, Elden Campbell, and Toni Kukoc.

I'll just list some more:

1989 - 23rd pick. Roy Marble?
1988 - Traded 1st round pick for REGGIE THEUS! who I think retired shortly afterwards?
1987 - 21st pick - Dallas Comegys???
1986 - 19th pick - Billy Thompson.....who was traded for Ken Barlow!?!? Who the hell are these people?

Which brings me to the Mount Everest of futility:

1985 - With the 5th pick the Atlanta Hawks select JOHN KONCAK! Truly terrible. He ended his short career with the Hawks with 5 points/ 3 rebounds a game average. We passed on Chris Mullin, Detletf Shrempf, Charles Oakley, Karl Malone, Joe Dumars, AC Green, and Terry Porter.

Sorry for the long post but I know my Hawk bretheren will enjoy wallowing in our ineptness.

Oh and for the record I'd like us to draft Marcus Williams. All we've heard down here is how we fucked up not drafting Chris Paul and that we desperately need a PG. Shut up and draft one then.

What we'll probably do is get Sheldon Williams and he'll be done in 3 years.

Actually, CBS Sportsline has the Bulls taking LaMarcus Aldridge at 2.

And Derris, does anything beat that montage that 790 plays of the Hawks draft history? Just. drive. into. oncoming. traffic.

yeah i've heard that too. the majority of the chicago media people think thomas. regardless, the #2 PLUS the regular #16 for the bulls is so great.

Last I heard, the Bobcats are going for either Gay or Morrison with the 3rd pick, assumming they are available. Brandon Roy is a possibility, although he didn't work out for the Bobcats due to a hamstring injury. I'd really like to have Gay personally, but if we draft any of those 3 I would be happy. We just need a wing scorer.

And big ups to Ced Simmons being invited to the green room. Hopefully he will go in the 8-12 range and not fall too far.

Yeah, it was too easy. And sophmoric.

But ass jokes, dick jokes, fag jokes, and bodily function jokes are always good for at least a chuckle.

randolph has been ok - but he is very limited on defense, is a black hole on offense - blazers have often played better when he was injured as the offense moves more quickly.

I don't really have an NBA team and haven't really watched the draft the last few years, but I used to love watching it to see all the awful suits these 18-20 yr old kids picked out. I understand they wanted to look "Pimp" and are "Street", but some of them were ridiculous.
The commentary is usually not as good as the NFL draft, but there are alot more surprises and bad trades with the NBA draft.

Someone please help me pull this off...

How can I be a die hard Knicks fan for my 33rd consecutive year, but at the same time, hope the team wins only 22 games to spite Isiah Thomas and James Dolan?!?

How do I go about this?!?! Sigh, Im not looking forward to this season at all.

where is their first pick?

I think they pick 20th and 29th....

They say there are alot of sleepers that could be available that low.

I didn't think the Knicks had a first round pick this year and might not have one next year due to the Curry trade with the Bulls.
