don't worry, most of it isn't worth keeping up with anyways.

Though I did bob my head to the new Sammy Hagar song on a classic rock station this morning. Maybe I'm wearing out on too much indie rock.

I listen to less and less new music every year.

i know you're an experimental fan. dig in to that a bit more. i have, and it's been rewarding.

I'm engulfed in music constantly. AC/CHR six days a week at work and indie/ambient/folk/experimental/whatever in spare time.

Need time to absorb specific songs and not be inundated by 25 new releases every frickin day. Maybe I need to cut back on the gazillion review sites and blogs I visit because there's always stuff reviewed there I want to hear but never get to.

Yeah. As much as I like specific indie rock bands on their own, there's a blurry mass of format sameness where I wind up not having anything against acts but I just can't recall specifically why they were any good.

i've been the exact same way lately. I feel like my listening has grown stagnant and was gonna buy a bunch of stuff but thought to myself "i'll probably and up so unimpressed with whatever I get anyway". sigh.

what does helios sound like?

boards of canada... in the pretty sense. dalen can probably describe it better than i can. but it is a GREAT album, especially if you're into experimental/ambient electronic music.

eek if you're going to start with boc, don't go to that one first.

"music has the right to children" is where to start. the new ep "trans canada highway" is also pretty qual as well.

but once again, ambient/experiental techno is more up dalen's alley... i'm more of the detroit/german/minimal techno type of gal.

i'm not even into experimental/ambient electronic music, and i really like the helios album.
to me, sounds much more organic that boards of canada. more like the music that sigur ros makes, with no vocals and some really nice electronic touches.

Well...

I'm still using my music money to buy music, just not new releases. I probably buy as many or more reissues/remasters as new albums, and the vast majority of my purchases are older albums, many of those from yourmusic.

Ditto, or new albums from old artists--they've got the Richard Butler solo album already. Wasn't that just released, like, a month ago?

Will be cracking open Shelly's Frankenstein tonight!

There's a lot of music nowadays, and if it helps, I been doing a certain "zone" organization with a bookmark file for stuff (a file for home listening, a file for restaurant sounding stuff, a file for rockin' driving around/kitchen work-cooking stuff) I come across. Jus' me:roll:
