I think I'm the only person that does not own this. Opinions? (on the album not on why I don't own it)

I don't own it. I don't feel that it's awful, but it is (in my opinion) a boring album with annoying vocals. The fact that one of the members looks a little like Napoleon Dynamite certainly doesn't help.

Bark Psychosis, who (again, in my opinion) put out a TERRIFIC album this year were almost universally ignored. It just doesn't make sense to me, but I'm just one tall and skinny white man in Chicago.

I avoided it for a while because everyone else loved it so much.

Then I bought it a couple weeks ago and it's now on constant rotation in my cd player. I think it's a very interesting album and the music itself is incredible.

The lyrics are sometimes hard to understand and the vocals can be out there, but I think that's some of the charm.

I think it's definitely worth checking out.

I listened to it a couple times, but it really couldn't hold my attention. I found it to be pretty boring.

I just bought it tonight and listened to a bit of it. I'd heard parts of it before but I was just never that into it. Crown Of Love is a really good song but I still think their best song is Headlights Look Like Diamonds. For some reason I feel like they're the Smashing Pumpkins of the 21st century.

Well, I think the album is awesome. A future classic.

And, you should definitely see the band live. They're amazing live.

I agree with the Headlights Look Like Diamonds point. Definitely my favorite. I think the album is good.

My experience with the Polyphonic Spree is limited but there are parts that remind me of them. A much darker polyphonic spree.

By far my favorite album of the year. Do not hate it because of the hype---it's that good.

ha-ha, that's damn funnny...I completely disagree...but damn funny

I love the music...the lyrics are very melodramatic and over the top...so it's more of a "only when I'm in the mood for that" kind of album

I don't know why, but I can't get into this album. I recognize that it's good, but I never want to listen to it.

Saw them live last night. The show was awesome. They have so much energy, and they're all really talented musicians. Great CD and great band.

I really like Funeral, but I don't own it yet. Every time I've tried to buy it, it's either too expensive or not carried by that particular store.

For example, two weeks ago I almost bought it at Rolling Stones in Chicago except for the fact that I didn't have money. Then I go back today, and the six copies they had are gone and they were acting like they never carried it in the first place. I'll get it sooner or later!

Good, not great. Definitely worth hearing, not necessarily worth owning. If my shmoo list were to have been extrapolated beyond 20, it would have probably been somewhere between 40-49. Though it sounds nothing like 2003's Wrens album, it is definitely The Meadowlands of 2004, in terms of being overrated/overhyped. I felt the same way about that Wrens album: good, not great. Not worthy of lavish praise and fawning, but certainly worth an occasional spin.

Let's see, if my top albums of 2004 list were expanded to about 100, I'd place Funeral somewhere around...oh, I don't know, maybe Number Fucking One. Of course, it's all taste, but for me, music is all about good songwriting and strong emotion. So I guess this album is right up my alley because they're fucking great at writing pop melodies and they pour in a ton of emotion.
