what's a good program for cutting portions of mp3s? It looks like with iTunes I can't cut the file, only where it starts playing, which is useless to me.

Is this primarily for mix-making purposes or general listening as well?

I wanna cut a track that has like 10 minute of unrelated space at the end to post on a blog. It's too big to do so with right now. so a little bit of both i guess.

yeah I was thinking audacity as well.. there are a bunch of programs.. mixmeister does it, but is probably overkill. MP3 splitter or something like that would work as well

you can also do this with cdex, although it won't do fading and whatnot.

you could also convert it to wav, cut it up with windows sound recorder and then convert it back to mp3.

but you are losing quality since you are essentially compressing it twice, no?

Probably, but if you're recompressing to the same bitrate I'd be surprised if there was a noticable difference.
