How quickly can a contract become cap-room?

This is going to be so much deadweight 'til then.

$13 mil a year is a lot, especially since we have a younger (less talented at the moment) version of Wallace in Tyson Chandler. Both offer great defense and rebounding ability, yet absolutely no offensive presense down low.

Criticism on this signing will have to wait until we see what else Pax can do.

On the other hand, if this is all we do, who could score on us?

PG - Hinrich/Duhon
SG - Gordon
SF - Deng/Nocioni
PF - Chandler
C - Wallace

That's one hell of a D.

I have a hard time justifying that sort of cash for a Center these days. It doesn't seem as stupid as the Nuggets resigning Nene for 6yrs-60million, when he only played three minutes last season. Peja Stojakovic seems to be the only guy worth a major deal, and he's coming off an injury too.
Granted I might be completely full of shit, since I didn't really watch the NBA last year.

This is a great move for the Bulls. Earlier I predicted a Cavs - Heat series for the East Finals but Chicago will be right there for the #2 or #3 spot. It's just too bad that the Heat will repeat this year so at least take joy in knowing your going to make the playoffs for a few years in a row.

 Half your team will be in the morgue next year. Shaq, Zo, GP. Enjoy the championship, no way in hell you repeat.

This is going to be a bizarre, interesting, and hopefully successful team to watch next year.

Really? I haven't read any reports about the Heat re-signing any refs to a deal yet for next year.

Yeah, I'm definately spending my money on the NBA package through direcTV rather than the shit I wasted my money on this year (fucking Cubs).

And people wonder why I hate sports.

This guy is getting paid over 35,000 PER DAY for over four years. That includes Christmas, off-season, etc. etc. 35 fucking thousand dollars per day to run around with a basketball in his hand.

Yeah, I'm serious. And yeah, I know Chandler is shit right now. But he's only, what, 23? Assuming we don't trade him, he could have a lot to learn from having Wallace around.

But as far as being a younger Ben Wallace, how do you find that so hard to believe? What does Ben do, play great D, block shots, rebounds and you get zero offense from him. Isn't that exactly what Chandler does, only with less talent? Give him a couple more years, and yeah, I could conceivably see him being just as good.

he did in 05. I think we can get a better and younger player than PJ Brown like soft-ass Murphy or Gooden.
