The Fireworks were yesterday here.

I do have the day off, though.

Dammit, I better go find a BBQ.

The best part of the fireworks display on the 3rd is then watching the traffic back up outside for about 2 hours after.

We live right by Grant Park where they have the fireworks, and last night we watched as traffic backed up and snarled in three directions for a couple hours or so after. Then there were the hundreds of people walking through intersections heading to the trains.

It's always entertaining and very peaceful to know we're not amongst them.

It's BBQ for One at chez moi today. So, I bought myself a T-Bone steak and giant prawns. Surf n Turf, baby. I've no idea who's gonna have fireworks...probably the neighbours.

Ohh, and Happy 4th, everyone! Viva America!

I can't imagine trying to go see a public fireworks display in a major city, I'd stay at home watching it on tv while I got drunk and listened to non-patriotic music.
Here in Lincoln, they have been fighting over which park they should be having the fireworks at.
The last time I attempted to see a fireworks display, it started pouring about fifteen minutes before they were suppose to light them off.
The displays aren't different enough to justify seeing them every year. It's the same shit with the same music, a little Lee Greenwood, some Toby Keith, tons of Sousa and Ray Charles singing America, the beautiful.

I plan on drinking Old Mud all day and grilling a steak.

Ohhh, you actually GO inside a park to see fireworks? I'm cheap, I just park somewhere with a good view and do my "ooohs and ahhhhs" there. No traffic, no need to pay.

I ate two hotdogs and am on beer number one, it is officially the fourth of July for me. I also threw some of those snaps by my dog, since he seemed to enjoy them a day or two ago, now he is just bored.

As for going to a park to see them, I don't usually, but if you want to see them you need to either go to the park or have someone that lives close by.
In my hometown, they have them at a huge lake park by my old elementary school. There's a ton of trees and hills blocking the view from my house, even if you get up on the roof of the garage. You can see all the aerial stuff, but none of the ground level fireworks.
In Lincoln, I have always lived way too far from Holmes Lake where they used to have the fireworks, plus all the large downtown buildings block your view. Now that they have them at Oak Lake, there is no parking except for what is around there for the Football and Baseball stadium. There aren't alot of trees around there and it is completely flat, so I can't imagine waiting a few hours out there with a bunch of white trash people.

My girlfriend's mom lives just on the outskirts of a park that puts on a fireworks display, so we just sit on her front porch. Hell, I could probably even see them from my balcony, but I'm gonna make the two minute walk over there cuz it's no fun watching them alone.

Big cookout, corn toss and beers last night. Tonight I plan on watching fireworks somewhere close to the Cumberland. Right now I'm bored out of my mind.

day 5 of weekend and i am exhausted. apparently someone brought out the beer bong last night and it was like a high school reunion because i ran into some kids from h.s. i haven't seen in years.... so the night got insane. actually, weekend was filled with insane amounts of alcohol.

no drinking today for me, i am dd tonight - heading to a bbq in an hour and then probably go up to griffith park or something to watch fireworks.

happy 4th! w00t.

so. tired.

great 4 day weekend, and nothing says patriotism like good beer, good friends and the DK's blasting on the stereo. However, I would like to individually pummel the yahoos who were blowing off firecrackers until 1 am this morning. thanks, motherfuckers. And I would also like to sic my neurotic dogs on your ass.
