My thought while watching: This is the first music video I have ever seen where it seems they told the star to "gain weight" before shooting---either that or they tried to make her look like she actually has curves.

No no. The vague suggestion of curves. Lighting that emphasized contours instead of 2D emphasizing lighting. Lots of shadows and warm colours. Weird angley-side shots. Dresses that were baggy enough that they could have contained curves---had there actually been any.
