I'm listening to a boot right now of one of the best shows I've ever seen.
It's one of my favorite things in my collection.
Nice way to relive the evening. (I can even very clearly hear myself scream a "WHOOOOO!!!" of approval as they started my favorite song.)

Oh, FYI... the show was:
Big Star
at Cabaret Metro, Chicago
June 8, 1994

(and the song I cheered for was "The Ballad Of El Goodo")

Not bootlegs, but I am on two official live releases: the DJ Shadow DVD (in a crowd shot during "High Noon") and one track from Built To Spill's Live album (I'm screaming in there somewhere after "I Could Hurt A Fly").

Were you at all those shows?
Man, you are lucky to find those.

I thought I was styling with the ONE!

I have a video tape of the Iggy Pop show I caught at The Ritz in NYC, 1986--recorded off MTV the week he hosted 120 Minutes.

I used to to have a bootlegger friend who would record these shows with a couple of mics going into a dat recorder. He'd give each band a box of bootlegs so he was always allowed.

Yeah, there's a guy in Chicago who does that, too.

You know you've "made it" at least partway there, when he shows up at one of your shows and tapes you.

In fact, he was the guy who taped the show I'm listening to now (I saw him there, with his set up.)

The Fleshtones have an MP3 version of the show from the Double Door last year, part of Little Steven's Battle of the Bands series.

i've only got official releases, one pearl jam, and the other a they might be giants show in d.c. from this past summer. what makes it extra special, however, is that at the end of the show, linell suggested that flansburgh start to thank everyone in the audience one at a time, and the first thing he says (well... actually sings) is "guy in the morrissey shirt, thank you for coming to our show". and that guy in the morrissey shirt was me.

Only copies of shows I've recorded myself. I'm up to around 80. I've prolly only committed 5 or 6 of those to CD. I'm lazy.

I recorded a Meat Puppets show I was at in 1989.
Unfortunately, it was stolen out of my car when I was at a Joe Strummer show at the Riv a couple of months later.

I've got a Cramps bootleg from the Glasgow Barrowlands. Forgotten which year it was but it was a cracking gig. If you've never seen Lux Interior 'perform' you've definately missed out on something great.

I used to collect boots of Medeski Martin & Wood, Phish, etc. during my drugged-out frippie days. Probably have around at least 100 of those shows on tape or CD-R.

Other bootlegs I have: Radiohead, Morphine, GY!BE, Spiritualized, Pixies, Black Dice, Critters Buggin w/ Bachir and Mustapha Attar of the Master Musicians of Jajouka, David Byrne, TV on the Radio.

EDIT: I wasn't at all of those shows.

Phish - 12/30/99 and 12/31/1999

15 discs of listening pleasure

But as far as Jambands go having boots of your favorite shows isn't all that uncommon.
