You can upload for free, but there's sometimes like an hour or more wait. Or you can pay $5 for 6 credits, $10 for 14 credits or $8.99 a month for unlimited credits and get them uploaded in about a minute. I think the longest you can make a ring is 40 seconds or something.

One of the best things about it is that the ringtones I've made with this are a lot louder than the ones you have to purchase.

i used something called "ringtone ripper". i'm sure if you google it, you can find it. it cost $11 for a year and you could upload and change the ringtone as many times as you want. i had "wu-tang clan ain't nothin' to fuck with!" for a while, then pavement's "perfume-v". then, the novelty wore off and i never used it again. it was super easy to use, though.

I use my nokia software and data cable/infra red/ bluetooth to get ringtones (that I found on the internet) on to the phone.

I just googled midi files.

what kind of phone do you have? on some older phones, you can't save ringtones when they're attached to text messages. for $10-20, you can get a cable that can hook up your phone to the usb port on your computer. you can use a free program like audacity to cut chunks out of your favorite mp3s (or cds or whatever), then you can use this handy program called bitpim to convert and upload them to your phone. you can also use it to grab pictures off your phone, upload custom wallpaper, and (on some phones) free games.

I just got an LG VX-8300 from Verizon, and I can email ringtones to my phone after I chop them down in Audacity. I need to make some more, but so far I have:

Wesley Willis, "Rock and Roll McDonalds"
2 Live Crew, "Table Dance"
Cee-Lo, "Soul Machine"

I want to put "Hit 'Em Up" on there, but I haven't gotten to it yet.

Yeah what type of phone do you have? Sometimes its as easy as emailing yourself the short file to your phone and then saving it.

As for 'creating ringtones' if your phone supports mp3 files, then you simply make the files in a free program like audacity.

For the V3m razor from Verizon (my phone) its a bit more complicated because Verizon has pretty much went out of their way to ensure that you cannot DL your own stuff onto the phone but instead use their VCast crap.

There are workarounds that essentially consist of using Motorola Software Update and P2kCommander to send the files to your phone from your computer. Anyhow, again, it all depends on what phone you have.

f4df,
I just got a RAZR V3 from Cingular. Have you successfully loaded any applications to it? I've got ringtones to it, but I can't get the P2K thing to find my phone.

Timmy,
I dont know about Cingular RAZRs --, the Verizon RAZR (V3M) is different from the Cingular one, Im not sure which one Cingular uses but if it is the V3C you will have a much easier time modding it.. but for Verizons version (V3M) the below works.

Id say find out the version of the phone Cingular uses and then search for modding forums

First, use P2kCommander ver 3.2.6 (not all versions work well with CDMA phones) Get it here

Second, P2kC will only work if you already have MSU running in the background. Get MSU here

Let me know if you still have any problems.

I actually got it working.
I have the V3.

I needed to get MPT, PST, and Midway all running to be able to do it. Finding the PST and Midway programs was hard, but not too hard to find on the internet. :)

I have a rather new Motorola, a V551. Can I do this without purchasing a cable. It has that Bluetooth technology. And I had no problem downloading a purchased Spank Rock ringer the other day.

Im not sure about the V551- it also depends on your carrier. Using bluetooth may be possible unless your provider had Motorola limit its capabilities (for instance Verizon had Motorola limit the bluetooth capabilities to headsets and a couple other things). I suggest you check out modding boards for the v551 like
