The 17 mile commute to work took me just over 2 hours. I am not upset because it is rare that it is like that. But, doing that after a full day at work running on about 3.5 hours of sleep has rendered me completely useless.

Or do like I have and move across the street from your job, so you can roll out of bed 20 mins. before you have to be there, shower, grab a breakfast bar, and walk out the door. I know I'm going to miss that when I eventually move on.

i used to have it that good. a couple minute walk to work, or living 1-t0-3 miles from work. that was nice.

So, why did it take you two hours to get home?

Traffic Tania. Enormous amounts of traffic.

See, I live in Portsmouth. I work in Va Beach. These two places are separated by a huge body of water. It's some extension of sorts of the Elizabeth River no matter where you are. My options were wait two hours on one highway to cross a high rise bridge or my other was to wait two hours on another highway and go through a tunnel. There are a couple "shortcuts" that people know that typically lessen the traffic by way of other bridges but one of the roads was closed and the other route the other bridge was closed. So, essentially we had double the traffic. Plus, I live not too far from Va Beach which is becoming a little Myrtle Beach in the summer vacation season. Massive amounts of toursits, mixed with all the traffic from commuters, mixed with all the traffic from those pesky teenagers that aren't in school for the summer months.

Altogether it equals a shitstorm of traffic.

Plus, the tunnels around here are the largest failed experiment in the history of mankind. Not only did they make the two lane tunnels barely the width of two vehicles, but most people in VA can't drive worth a damn so they FREAK OUT when they start heading into a tunnel or any narrow passageway on the road. All in all it was pretty crappy. But, like I said, I don't have too many complaints overall because it is a pretty rare occurrence that it is as bad as it was today. Typically the 17 mile commute takes me around 30-35 minutes.

I'm quite familiar with traffic.
