no spoilers:

Similarly good, in that if you liked the first, you'll like this one. Depp=great character actor. Knightley=uncontrollable erection (if this movie had lasted more than four hours, I would have had to visit a physician. Effects/creatures=superb. Darned ending=there will be a Pt. III.

And that there will definitely be a third but the movie company is already making sure everyone knows that.

I saw it this weekend too. Fun movie... a bit too long in my opinion. Johnny was excellent as always. I found myself smiling uncontrollably whenever he came on screen. He totally runs with the character this time. I love a boozy, sexually ambiguous pirate!

And the guy who played the navy guy from the first movie... can't remember his name... Norrington? whoa.... HOTT.

Keira... eh. I can't get over her weird underbite thing that she has going on. ;)

How is saying that there is going to be a part III a spoiler?

I really enjoyed it. I wasn't too keen on the length, but I saw a midnight showing so that could have affected it. But, I will agree, if you didn't like the first, do not go see this one.

It's great mindless entertainment, and the ceratures were great.

Yeah they filmed parts II & III at the same time I thought.

EVERY review I've read about this says it all CGI and no substance. Not sure that people going to see this, including myself are really looking for substance though.

We didn't get a chance to see it over the weekend and plan to tomorrow night possibly(my last movie in a theater for eons after this week).

I loved the first and I don't really give a crap about reviews because critics are morons most of the time and don't get the real public.

I'm glad it raked in the dough this weekend. hurrah.

And yeah, why would saying there's a third a spoiler? That's old friggin news. They've been saying that since One finished.

Well, critics loved the first one--26% more than this one, according to rottentomatoes.com. My guess is that they never had a plan for sequels until the first one was such a success, and so threw something sub-par together. I mean, the first one was based on a ride, so how much plot can you really get out of it?

I thought it was pretty good, but my girlfriend and I both agreed that they didn't really wrap up anything in this movie. I won't go into detail cuz no spoilers, but every one of the little sub-plots was left hanging, they could've given us SOMETHING.

For those of you who have seen it, feel free to make fun of me about the following statement:

I just got the title, "Dead Man's Chest".

I was 100% fun and about 60% incoherent.

I loved it, even if the plot was ridiculous and character motivations doubly so.

Several very funny fight scenes.

Knightley much too thin.

Nighy squiddly awesome.

Maybe, but Johnny Depp makes Harrison Ford look like an amateur. Harrison Ford plays a very good Harrison Ford, especially if it's a Tom Clacy thing. Then, he's really Harrison.

i agree with this. i wish the character dynamic at the very end was present more throughout the movie. that act (by keira) certainly made things more interesting

also, those moviegoers who cried and/or had any semblance of fun at that big gorilla movie (ah, king kong, thats it) do not have the right to call any movie overlong

i am not pointing fingers at anyone here, just saying (cuz a lot of ppl have been saying its too long)

I thought it was pretty bad. I guess it was sort of entertaining, but nothing really happens in the whole movie. Nothing from the plot they started is resolved by the end, and a lot of the action sequences are just pleasant diversions from the actual plot. They don't really add anything to the movie. Plus, I felt like Depp went over the deep end with Captain Jack. He seemed too ridiculous this time.
