I managed to get on the guest list for Fiona Apple's concert in Austin. So that was nice. Good live show, but she is quite the spaz. She often appeared to be going into seizures and would occasionally get this rasp in her voice that made it seem as if she was growling rather than singing. At the end of a lot of her songs when she was finished singing, she would back away from the mic and just start talking/shouting at the air. Nobody could ever tell what she was saying. Damien Rice was impressive but I didn't know much of his stuff aside from "Volcano" and "Blower's Daughter" (during which he snuck in the bridge to Radiohead's "Creep").

Then I bolted to Emo's to catch Danielson Famile. They started 10 minutes after I got there. 6 People crammed on a tiny stage. A guitarist (Daniel), xylophone player (Megan was pretty cute), keyboard player (Evan), bassist, and 2 drummers. I think much of what they played came from Ships. The venue itself was pretty packed. Daniel had mentioned that the last time they came through was 7 years ago. He said 10 people showed up and they hated it. Their vocals irritate after a while, but it was still a quality show.

David Garza is the first opener for the shows up here.

I'm missing them and I'm really, horribly upset about that.
