Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby
NASCAR stock car racing sensation Ricky Bobby (Will Ferrell) is a national hero because of his "win at all costs" approach. He and his loyal racing partner, childhood friend Cal Naughton Jr. (John C. Reilly), are a fearless duo -- "Shake" and "Bake" by their fans for their ability to finish so many races in the #1 and #2 positions, with Cal always in second place. When flamboyant French Formula One driver Jean Girard (Sacha Baron Cohen) challenges "Shake" and "Bake" for the supremacy of NASCAR, Ricky Bobby must face his own demons and fight Girard for the right to be known as racing's top driver.

If they can pull of the ridiculously stupid fun of Anchorman here, I'm all for it. NASCAR is ripe for ridicule, but it could go the wrong way and just be stupid ridicule. I saw one quick preview the other day and it looked promising, however.

Looking forward to it with low expectations.

I got a fin here that says Will Ferrell will run around naked, or something close to it.

That's a pretty easy win, given that that particular Old School rehash is depicted in the preview.

I was when I first read about it since I interpreted it as Sacha vs Will. But the previews make it look like Sacha's character is an afterthought. The previews also make it looks like it sucks

The sad part is that I think Ferrell is actually sorta funny, but apparently he's content with the same old shit.

i almost think they can't do it again, but then I HATED Anchorman the first time I saw it.

I don't know how crippling Paul Rudd & Steve Carrell's absence is, but it def. puts weight on David Koechner's shoulders. and Jon Glaser's, I guess.

I saw the preview the other day and there was not one remotely funny thing in it.

i take it back, after watching the trailer, there might be some ok parts, and it has Sacha Baron Cohen. So that can't be all bad.

I'll probably see it. I'm another one who didn't think Anchorman was all that funny the first time I saw it. After a second viewing I thought was hilarious and progressively so.

Ditto. Absolutely hated that movie first time I saw it. But then I saw it again, and then due to my husband's ability to watch it every time he comes across it on cable no matter how far in- I've seen it about 30 times since and love it now.

This flick could be the same way for some people.

that's definitely not the trailer I saw. Still, a lot of that isn't that funny out of context. I don't know, I remember being unimpressed. Who knows, maybe some of this shit in the new trailer will be timeless comedy later on.

Anyone can make a bad movie look good in a trailer and vice-versa. I have faith that because the same people are involved as Anchorman and 40-Year old Virgin that it will turn out to be a good movie. But it will definitely age better with repeated viewing on DVD.

So, Anchorman is a "grower". Hmmm.

I've seen a few previews of Ricky Bobby, and it looks to be hit or miss. The scene of Ricky saying grace is pretty good. I'll see it when it hits DVD.

wedding crashers is ferrel's greatest performance.....nothing can top that shit.
