yeah, i was just looking into it. they havent qualified for a major tournament since euro 2000. their team seems to be pretty weak too, outside of chivu and mutu, who are both quite good.

Cool, Scotland up 18 places to 41.

If we can start off the EC qualifiers the way we finished the WC qualifiers we can maybe get back into the Top 30.

Saudi Arabia dropped 47 places. Ouch!

The U.S. dropping is incredibly reasonable, I thought they might drop out of the top 20. I don't see how England is up to five. They only made the quarterfinals and looked fairly mediocre the whole tournament. I think Brazil probably deserves to be in the top three or four until they blow a major tournament early or lose badly to a lower ranked team in a meaningful setting.

P.S.
I don't see why they didn't broadcast the Celtic-DC United game last night, they could have shown it after the AAA Baseball all-star game or after the WNBA All-star game.

England are up there because they didn't lose a game in normal time and didn't conceed many goals.

Having said that I think they are a Top Ten side rather than a Top Five one.

Celtic lost 0-4 in a pounding rain. Adu the wonderboy scored. Chivas of Guadaljara up next.

Celtic have lost all their pre-season games. I've heard the players are pissed off about being dragged around the planet playing friendly matches to make the club cash.

But don't worry, we'll beat Rangers on the first day of the season for you.

I've seen you make comments like this before...I assume "they" is ESPN or some other US Broadcast or Basic Cable Station. I'd guess the answer is that in the US, the viewership would be slightly larger than the AAA Baseball all-star game but the broadcast rights would be considerably more expensive.

I don't see where it would be much more then when they show MLS games and Fox Sports shows EPL and the occassional UEFA cup game. I saw that Adu scored and that DC United won 4-0 on ESPN's bottomline, I just figured Celtic wasn't playing their best guys.

I know dick about soccer, but given Ghana's performance in the World Cup, shouldn't they at least crack the Top 20?
