When people use the words "attractive" or "appealing" about other people. They make me think of magnets and oranges, respectively.

Also icky business-speak with thinly veiled sexual innuendos, e.g.:
- "We need to thrust our efforts in this direction... in order to penetrate this market"... etc.

I find it hilarious that people can speak like that and keep a straight face.

i hate it in reviews that if a writer is lazy, they call every woman who's a singer a "chanteuse" or a "torch-singer."

anything with the suffix -gate. every time there's a scandal or something bad happens, it's "rathergate" (or "memogate) or "janet's boob-gate." terrible.

edit: i guess these don't fulfill the requirement of "no particular reason." for one that really is for no particular reason, i'll go with "pizzazz."

Evidently an exec at a place where I once worked used the phrase "smoking mirrors" in a rah rah speech once. It went something like "we are going to use smoking mirrors to keep the competition guessing." I unfortunately missed that gem. I don't think that is common though. It takes a special idiot.
