"I can get us out of here tonight"
Piano and organ by Rick Steff (Cat Power, Hank Williams Jr., Dexy's Midnight Runners, etc.). Produced and recorded by David Lowery (Camper Van Beethoven, Cracker) and Alan Weatherhead.

New record due September 26, 2006.
Title: Rebels, Rogues and Sworn Brothers

Advance words from "umwryan" on his blog, Muzzle of Bees:
"So, with the arrival of Rebels, Rogues, and Sworn Brothers, I blew off the afternoon and spent my time listening to the album four times from start to finish. I hear Bruce Springsteen all over this record, and I’m talking the early day’s boss when it seemed like there was such a young urgency in his music. You’ll find that on this record, but you’ll also find a much more polished band as well, complete with keyboards which take Lucero’s music into a very interesting direction. Don’t be worried though, this is still a Lucero record, make no mistake."

Consider me pumped. Song is awesome. If the album is anything like this, it will be easily my favorite of the decade so far.

Further listening of the song. The polish kind of takes the emotional punch out of the band but they can't keep retreading TMFW. I like this song alot. Shows how talented of a songwriter Nichols is.

Saw them live recently and it was great. Also, bought their "Attic Tapes" CD which is really good for being recorded on a 4-track.

That's odd. It's not there anymore, but the link is still on the blog. Hmph.

Problem is, I didn't save the mp3, because I was on the laptop and figured I could just grab it this morning on the desktop. OH FUCK WE'RE ALL GONNA DIE.

Thanks, pal, I knew I could count on you!
FUCK that song is good. I hear the Springsteen, I hear the slicker production, and I hear how fucking good it all sounds.

When does this come out, or, more to the point, TIMIS, when can YOU get your hands on it?

Also, The Attic Tapes? YSIPLZKTHX!

I'll try and pick up The Attic Tapes this afternoon, if I can get out for a bit.

Due date for new record is September 26.

Listened to this song last night. Liked it a whole lot. The fuller production is a good direction for the band - it's not like Lucero will ever sound slick and glossy with THAT voice at its center.

Thanks for the link, Fu.

They are. Nobody's Darlin isn't on eMusic, though and it's their most recent besides Attic Tapes (which also is not on eMusic but is a B-sides album so it doesn't count).
