o All of the drug lady's fingers are broken off, not only one!

o 2nd rape features additional punch to the face as well as shots of pimp thrusting into her. As pimp's body splits in half, there is additional shot (and classic sound effect) of his entrails pouring out. When Ichi slices the girl after killing the pimp, she turns her head to the side and a huge gash open's spraying blood as she thrusts around the room.

o Extreme close up of "tv set" victim's eye socket.

o Additional shots of "cheek pull" including excited looks between Kakihara & the girl.

o The bloody face slides all the way down the wall after flying out of the room.

Folks, if you ain�t watching this movie�everything else is just horror sequels with cheesy porn stars (or wanna be porn stars). If you aren�t watching this movie�frankly, you don�t know what you are missing.


Comparison: Nothing like you could ever imagine

serious question, just out of curiosity (maybe this's a dumb question), is the point of something like this more about whole horror and gore thing/exploring the boundaries/getting scared, or is it more like a kinky little thrill, or both (in general terms, for the ppl who like it)

or is it the amazing graphics/workmanship

It's been out for a few years, I bought it about a month ago. I actually really enjoyed it. It's sort of a different premise than the first (sort of and it's riddled with some anti-American sentiment, but it's got a lot going for it. I was surprised in that it didn't completely suck. The first one is being remade in America. It will suck balls.

i think there's def. a kinky little thrill for a lot of its intended audience, but i'd say the main aim is the boundaries of horror, which get pushed in much different directions over there than it does here.

i will say that much of the violence in *ichi* is cartoonish [as if you couldnt tell from the previous post about the goriest moments]. it's definitely over the top to the point where you almost do have to laugh. i mean, the scene i linked to on youtube is a perfect example. yeh, blood might spray and splatter when an artery is severed, but gardenhose-like spray is def over the top. it's almost python-esque at times, just in a diff't context. ['your whole bloody face is off!' 'no it's not!']
as far as the violence/rape scenes, there is a certain level of car-wreck-edness to it. you dont want to look, but you cant help it.
i think part of what makes this movie disturbing in its own way is that some of the same things that drive ichi to do what he does drive the viewer to watch him do it [see reference to car wreck above]. in a way, he explains this in a scene with the woman whose attack is [somewhat] behind his need to exact revenge.
at least that's my opinion.

Yo that flick was pretty messed up. Watched it all last night and some of the things being done it were pretty sadistic. When they cut that turtle open, I almost got sick.

yeah battle royale 2 is already out. i haven't seen it but my roommate said it really sucked.

i liked suicide club. the train part was awesome and that one girl was pretty cute.

i finally watched cannibal holocaust last night. i think the animal killings were more disturbing than the humans though the 2 disc edition i have has a 'animal cruelty free' version you can watch. it was a good movie but alan yates and his cameramen seemed like they'd just been let out of prison or something. it was also pretty stupid that they kept going back to film the members of his party being killed.

there's some liner notes by chas balun where he savages the blair witch project for being a shitty ripoff of this but i think that blair witch is done a lot better than this, though it doesn't have the gore. plus, his name is chas. how douchey.

I rented In My Skin last week and turned it on as i was falling asleep. I woke up in the middle of the night to a woman cutting out a chunk of her leg. Kept me good and freaked out for a day or so.

In related gross news, I read a story about G.G. Allin yesterday and my stomach actually did a little nauseating flip. I hope I'm not losing my love of the gore.

when are people going to realize that they need to stop remaking the jhorror movies?

but seriously people you need to watch SURVIVE STYLE 5. if you can find it. not horror, but just a damn great japanese flick.
