I've always thought Gene Simmons would shit his pants in a fight situation.

Elliott Smith. Ultimately a pretty wussy dude. However, he may be subject to removal from this list because he actually stuck a knife into his own heart.

No, you're right, but I thoguht it was only fair to list him anyway.
He's actually quite a big guy and also has a thing for "ruffians".

Neil Tennant, Chan Marshall, Martin Gore, and Art Garfunkel (who incindently I believe to be the same person) Bilinda Butcher, Alison shaw. Gosh, guess most of what I listen to is produced by wusses.

...and ME.

You live close enough for me to drive over and smack you around a wee bit but I'm a pacifist, so I'll not bother. Insincere threats aside, I wonder why you consider him a wuss? Is it because he wasn't very tall or big and had a soft voice? Is it the type of music he made post-Heatmiser?

Elliott, for a small dude, actually was quite a scrapper so the story goes. He apparently was involved in a lot of fights growing up and even through till the end of his life when he was arrested for getting in a fight with security at a Beck concert because he was trying to assist some kid who was being kicked by them. Anyway, I'm not saying fighting makes you less of a wuss, but I don't think Elliott qualifies.

Yeah, what's the definition for wuss?

Someone who makes occasionally quet, introspective music? That seems to be the qualifier and it's being thrown around like an insult.

totally.

He and Neil Tennat were totally little nerdy know-it-all boys as kids... I can see it now. Neil was all little and pale and got called names. Sting wasn't so wimpy but would say smart-ass things to other kids and then run away when they threaten him.

I knew I could count on you to make his defense. I don't think I consider this usage of wussiness to be a bad thing necessarily. I think I thought of Elliott Smith because of his relative reclusiveness and ultimately repetitive songs of heartbreak. Don't get me wrong. I love Elliott Smith. I love sad songs. But just because I like it, doesn't mean he isn't a wuss. And I think there are a lot of "scrappy" dudes that can be wusses. Wussiness in this category is more about entire image as opposed to intermittent violent actions.

Anyone who stabs themselves in the heart twice can never be a wuss, no matter how fragile you might/might not consider his music. The true badasses are introspective and only use violence in extreme situations, or when they have no other choice. Has this man taught you nothing?
