Eagle Rock Entertainment has posted information on a live acoustic DVD from Pixies, appropriately titled Pixies: Acoustic -- Live in Newport.

The set is taken from the band's performance at the Newport Folk Festival. Bonus features will include a 21-minute “fly on the wall” feature of the band in rehearsals for the set as they deconstruct their songs from electric to acoustic versions, including “Debaser,” which did not make the final set list, as well as a photo gallery.

Acoustic is set for release August 22nd and marks the band's fourth DVD in just over 2 years. They released another live DVD late last year entitled Sell Out via Rhino, and 2004 saw 4AD issue Live at the Town and Country Club 1988 as well as a self-titled documentary.

The band recently ruled out the possibility of further proper studio recordings.

Not so sure about The Pixies acoustic.
A lot of their appeal for me comes from Joey's warped, weirdo electric guitar.
Not certain that his playing will translate so well to the acoustic.

Although I would be curious to see...
