Did anyone picked up Magnolia Electic Co.'s New Album "Trial & Errors" today? Initial thoughts?

I hate it. I want my Songs:Ohia back. It's just as bland and vampy as their performance here in the fall. Where is the hurt?

I've been waiting for the day of this' release so that I could start bad-mouthing it.

It's pretty good but too classic rock for me.

I got my pre-order in December, but I haven't really listened to it much. The last few songs are definitely the best though.

i agree with this. the horns add a cool element to the tunes.

i like the whole album, and would recommend it to any songs:ohia fan (minus ish of course)

You mean I could've start chiding this release in December (had I spent the money on it)?

I dunno...

Tirals & Errors, recorded live in 2k3 with basically the same band and same sound and same style as Songs: Ohia's Magnolia Electric Co release of the same year (and even a cover of one tune from that), which you said you liked a lot. I'm missing the disconnection, but that's okay, obnerst, you go ahead and not like it. I'm playing the hell out of it.

:D

Granted, it deserves a few more listens, but it's going to take something uncanny to change my mind. I love Magnolia Electric Co. very much, but as an album, not a band. These guys do not know how to jam. It's pathetic and depressing to hear them try. They do Neil Young a complete disservice with that sily tease. "Ring the Bell" was once my favourite song of Molina's. This version makes me want to 'uke. I'll try it again.
