One of the opening acts for Arcade Fire is a guy who goes by the name of Final Fantasy (Owen Pallett), who also happens to be one of the contributing violinists onstage. He's a solo act who accompanies himself on the violin, sampling some of his chords as he plays and sings along. I was so impressed by him that I ended up buying his CD.

I'm wondering if any of my Canadian pals know more about him? All I know is that he's from Toronto and has contributed to Arcade Fire's album and currently accompanying them on their tour.

Ok, I've learned he's a former member of Hidden Cameras. My sleuthing continues.

I know he does a cover of Joanna Newsom's "Peach, Plum, Pear". Member of the Hidden Cameras. Plays the violin. Um.. I think that's it. Pretty much everything that's already been mentioned.

This thread would be cooler if it WAS about the game.

Oh oh oh! Owen also heads up a band called Les Mouches that are really quite good (which Haq will testify to). They are definitely worth hearing.

When's that new Final Fantasy movie coming out? I forget the name of it but it's supposed to be a sequel to the events in FF7.

I was a bit dubious when I saw him come out on stage with only a violin, but I was also quite impressed.

I'm telling you to check out Les Mouches. Their You're more to me than 1000 Christians would've made my top 15 if I didn't mind wasting a vote on an unknown, and knew for certain that it was released in 2004. Really nice packaging with Anne Murray on it.

I'm going to see if I can find this album at Amoeba... sounds interesting. Thanks for the recommendation!

Dri, I think your best bet is to visit Les Mouches' "label" (I think it's referred to as moreso of a collective, a commune) Blocks Recording Club at http://www.blocksblocksblocks.com/.

Wow. The two tracks they have on their website are phenomenal (Les Mouches).
