I'm going to see em tonight. First time I've ever seen Elvis and I'm a huge fan.

I hear they are playing mostly stuff from their joint album they put out this year and are being backed by Elvis's band The Imposters and the Crescent City Horns.

Does anyone have this new album and, if so, how is it? I think FT was talking about it for a while there. The 3 songs I've heard off of it reminded me of something you'd hear on a side stage at Jazzfest in New Orleans which is a VERY good thing. Great horns.

Anybody seen em on this tour?

I see them tomorrow night. Haven't heard their album either. I think FT really likes it though.

I watched a bit of the live feed when they were playing at Bonaroo.

Pretty underwhelming to be honest.

Hope its a good show though. Is this at the Tab?

Oh and Derris, are you going to Ryan Adams? Thrower apparently has an extra tick for me so I guess I'm going...

Well, most of his 00's output has been pretty hit or miss but shit, the guy's got an impressive catalog to pull from.

It's at Chastain. Hard to not have a good time at that venue especially when I can bring my own booze/food.

On tap tonight:

Greek Salad
Marinated Olives
Hummus
Cabernet

Didn't even know Ryan Adams was playing anywhere. :(
I'm going to Guster & Ray Lamontagne Friday at Chastain. Lawn tix still available.

Its on.

Update. Lawn tix sold out. If I get tickets in the back, can I still sit on the lawn? (like at Lakewood).

I'm not 100% sure but I'd think that they'd let anyone move back if they wanted to as long as you got there early enough to stake your claim to a good spot.

I'll check it out tonight.

Great Concert. Almost three hours long and no breaks. Highlight was defintely Toussaint' s rearranged version of Chelsea. That and the Professor Longhair tribute. Which reminded me, Big Chief is the greatest piano piece ever written. Costello was great and really showed off the pipes on the ballads but it was defintely Toussaint's Piano that made the show. From the moment he walked on stage in the middle of the 2nd song, the show was his. It reminded me of something my mom's friend told me once. She said, "Tanner, Fats Domino was our party music. All you had to do was put on a Fats record and the night would take care of it's self." The NO R&B Piano just makes a person want to dance and move. And more importantly have a good time. The greatest thing about New Orleans is it's desire to have fun in the face of adversity and that was truly what the concert was about.

Nice.

I had the similar experience the night before. Elvis made sure at every turn that people knew that this was not just him being backed by these great new orleans musicians but that it was a complete collaboration.

At the show I was at the horn section did the beginning of "Alison" all by themselves and it was awesome. No music other than horns playing seperate parts.

They played for 2 hours 40 minutes and probably would've played longer if there wasn't a noise ordinance at the outdoor venue I was at.

Fitting that they ended the tour in New Orleans. He kept encouraging people to go and visit and still give money when they could.

I will be picking up the new album.

Did the same thing for Alison here too. I'm picking up the new one too.

I still like the album, but after giving it another listen, I may have had it ranked just a tad too high. I've moved it from #9 (out of 47) to #13. Still very solid, though.

This is an excellent album. Admittedly, I'm a huge Elvis fan, but this album really blew me away. I got it three weeks ago and haven't taken it ouf of my CD player since.

Sorry, I did not run into the other night Ricky, I thought the show was great. they did that song that Warren Z. covered very cool. Elvis loves Atl. He's played here like 7 times in the past 3 years. Every show different and special in its own way. Last year with Emmy Lou had to be by far one of my all times fav shows. They dueted "love hurts" by god. I liked the Allen T. shit the horns were great. Costello has a voice that just does not quit all night. Just like Sting,Chris robinson, Otis, and a good few many to be named later (when I get the feeling). Ryann Adams Bloor, you gonna make it?
