Alas, Mandy Moore isn't one. But feel free to make hers a write-in candidacy.

Anyway, for the sake of argument, the '99 canon would be The Soft Bulletin, The Fragile, Summerteeth, and Utopia Parkway.

Also, Juvenile's 400 Degreez fails to make as it was a '98 release.

I like Foo Fighters, but I don't own any albums by them anymore.

I'm not sure why the Rentals and Foo Fighters aren't part of the indie/rock/pop category, but my vote for non-indie album of '99 would be Fiona Apple's When The Pawn....

I liked Clarity at the time, but I recently listened to it and felt embarrassed for myself.

Absolutely. His second album completely embarasses the Shady LP.

JEW but TINLTL might be my favorite Foo Fighters album. Still, I think Clarity is widely considered the best JEW album and if any should be cannonized, it should be that one.

I don't own any of those albums and have only probably heard most of the Slim Shady album. The only one I'd really want to hear is 2001.

definitely don't need to revisit Jimmy Eat World...hearing "The Middle" 8.000.000 times was good enough for me and i've never heard any dre albums besides "The Chronic"

Yeah, I don't need to listen to Kid A either because "Creep" got overplayed.

I haven't given it a lot of thought, but the first one that comes to mind is:

The Flaming Lips - The Soft Bulletin
