Saddle Creek has signed Eric Bachman. Bachman is well-known from his songwriting role in Archers of Loaf, and he stepped out on his own when that band disbanded in 1998. He previously released a record under the name Crooked Fingers, but the disc for Saddle Creek will be the first bearing his name.

The label will be releasing Bachman's new album, To The Races which promises "a more direct, spartan approach," on August 22nd.

He's playing a show in Omaha with Richard Buckner the day before Two Gallants play Nebraska again. September is going to be a sweet month for shows with those two and the M Ward gig. I need to sell a kidney or myself to attend all of them and monger quite hard at each one.

I dont think Eric has left merge, just putting out this solo with Saddle Creek.

I like it better than Dignity & Shame, but not as much as early CF albums. Spartan is a good word.

Wow, You must not listen to alot of Saddle Creek stuff. I'd never say The Faint was Emo, most of The Good Life stuff, the new Cursive, Two Gallants, Rilo Kiley before they left, Broken Spindles, etc. none of that shit is really Emo. Bright Eyes is the only person that even really exudes EMO qualities. Criteria and Ladyfinger might sound a little EMO, but I'd say they were more in line with standard indie rock.

I don't care if people say it all sucks, but to lump it all together as EMO is ridiculous.
