We just got that Dragonforce album critics and fans alike have been wetting themselves over into our station and I just finished listening to it. What's the appeal? This sounds like it belongs straight outta late 80s metal, Queensryche-style stuff with lots of power riffing. I like metal as much as the next guy, but there's not much to appreciate here other than someone who can play metal riffs really fast. It reminds me of the worst excesses of progressive rock. Just because it's hard and complicated to play doesn't mean it's good music.

absolute garbage. nothing like The Darkness. Dragonforce are trying to be the new Iron Maiden, and IMO, failing miserably.

Yeah I downloaded one of their albums and listened to half of a song before I deleted it.

but that could be just due to the time that i was completely stoned and my mate promised to put on "the most epic fucking band" (tongue in cheek)

i laughed for like 20 mins

they are over the top. i suspect some of the appeal lies in the "Andrew WK" factor, in that it's fairly basic in it's approach (in terms of style - as psyclone alluded too it's probably hard to play all those licks and speedy drum fills) but it's really, really, really energetic.

just because you're not in the mood to rock out to the anthemic power metal with the shredding and the high-pitched vox with the metal choir back up and the glavin doesn't mean it's bad music.
