That looks excellent.

That actor was my favourite part of Amorres Peros, nice to see him in something else.

I'd like to see him try a non-romance type movie next time. But yes, I'm anxiously awaiting The Science of Sleep. I loved Eternal Sunshine...

I echo this statement wholeheartedly.

I ended up seeing Etneral Sunshine seven times in the theatre.

He's been in a lot of stuff since Amores Perros.

Did you never see Y Tu Mama Tabien or The Motorcycle Diaries?

No, I only recently started renting movies again. In fact I just saw Amorres Peros for the first time a week ago. I'll have to check out those two you mentioned.

Yeah, but that's only because you kept forgetting that you had already seen it...

Saw it last night. It was okay.

I thought the main characters (Stephane & Stephanie) were likable, but there were just too many missed connections with their relationship for me to actually get into the story. I did enjoy the fun they had with each other, though. Sort of made me daydream of a grown-up playmate while watching the film. Both Gael Garcia Bernal and Charlotte Gainsbourg are adorable.

I don't know, I definitely wouldn't put it anywhere near the high caliber of Eternal Sunshine, but it had its cute points. I'm glad I didn't pay to see it, that's for sure.

You mean pretentious claptrap ISN'T a substitute for a good story?!

Saw it this past weekend, not as emotionally accessible or obvious as Eternal Sunshine, but still pretty good. I'd see it again, but not right away (whereas I bought the dvd for Eternal Sunshine the day it came out).

i didn't care for it, apart from a handful of funny lines and scenes. neither stephane or stephanie interested me as main characters. and i understand the suspension of reality that movie viewers need to appreciate cinema like this, but i think movies also need a bit of coherence. and this simply didn't provide enough to warrant the bizarre layout.

Bad Education was great. A take at film noir, that probably is one of the better stabs at it as of recent. Brick, being the best I've seen.

Science looks really interesting, and as a videographer/editor, Gondry leaves me drooling. His techniques in filmmaking never ceases to amaze me, so that alone will get me into the theater. How is the soundtrack, btw?

I tried to go to that opening and the line was blocks long, literally.
I enjoyed the film but parts of it got too silly for me ("something out of a Monkees outtake," as they said in the New Yorker)

anyone who refers to almodovar as 'that guy who did Talk To Her' is not qualified to call any of his films 'shitty.'

secondly, anyone who thinks gael garcia bernal doesn't work enough is insane. that dude is in about a billion pictures since amorros perros.

nope. i'm right there with you. liked it as much as gondry's last film (even if it didn't have as brilliantly as twisted a narrative). i loved the characters and the tone. i thought it was the best story of a child falling for one with more faculty for complex emotion since rushmore. i found it immenently endearing and a very gently bittersweet movie. the sequence at the end where he falls asleep in her bed was touching and really drove home that he was a kid living in an adult's world. i wanted to see it again the moment i stepped out of the theater.
